Quilt With Us

Just signed in to this site. Hope to meet new quilter friends. I live in New Mexico on a golf course. No, I don't golf much. Actually I'm rather dangerous but got better this summer when I golfed in a couples mixer with my husband on Friday nites. He is the golfer. It was best ball, so my game mostly consisted of hit the ball and pick it up because, of course, he can hit it much closer to the hole than I!!! lol

I have 2 children, 1 baby grandson and 2 teenage step grandchildren (one a girl and one a boy) of course all cute as buttons.

I have a small tv with a vcr in my quilting room and I like to watch movies of The Little Rascals while I quilt. Mostly all of my quilting friends (and friends in general) live in Albuquerque so I get quite lonely out here sometimes, hence my pets are my sounding boards. They all go into my sewing room and snooze while I sew.

I would love to hear from anyone and am looking forward to seeing what you are all making. I haven't quite mastered the adding pictures on sites yet.

Hi everyone:

Thank you so much for all the welcomes i've received. I'm going to Austin next week to see my grandson Logan. He is the only grandson I have from my own children. He is 17 months old and doing all the cute baby things so we try to go out to see him every other month. Linda, I have a friend in British Columbia that I met on line when I was working and we talk on the pc every once in awhile. She doesn't quilt but she knits. I think we are going out to meet them next summer. I forwent (is that a word???) a Hawaiian cruise to go out there. Just between you and I and everyone who knows me, I don't know how to swim so the cruise wasn't that hard to let go. Besides, I would probably spend the whole time on line or quilting or knitting anyway. Ha --Oh, in your picture Linda, I see you have a pooch in your arms. I am also an animal lover. I have a Shih Tzu that is 10 and am considering getting another one soon. I found a breeder locally that breeds them and poms. She also has some half pom and half shitz. I'm going to see them when I get back, should be interesting. I take Kiki to nursing homes to visit and they love her and she loves them.

By the way girls, the reason I am dangerous on the golf course is because I played softball for 15 years and whale the ball. Since I am not accurate, hence I'm dangerous! My husband was coaching me out of a sand trap years ago and he was standing behind me on the green. Well, the ball somehow hit the ridge and ricocheted back and hit him in the family jewels. He wouldn't play with me for years after. Sure wish i had video for Americas Funniest Videos --- But, alas, he refuses a reinactment.

Welcome. Sorry this is so late but I know you will love this site. Be warned, it's addictive. I've been really busy this week with family and every minute of everyday I wonder what is going on here. Look forward to reading more. I just came home from Houston and drove thru NM. Beautiful state.

Corina, welcome to QWU. I am sure you will love it here. The gang is great. We feel like a big family seperated by distance. Join some of the smaller groups and you will get to know more about some of us. Happy quilting.

Welcome Corina,
When I think of that name it reminds me of the movie Corina, Corina with Whoopie Goldberg in it. It was good. You have a friend here. Would love to see some of your work! We are all one big happy family!!!

Welcome Corina,
I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who's a bit dangerous on the golf course. Now days, I do my golfing on the Wii, and stick close to my quilting frames! Glad to have you here.

Welcome, Corina, I live on a golf course too. Mine's a bit further north and will close any day for the winter. Guys still go out and play but there's no hole. Husband plays but not me--I tell him it's a waste of good quilting time. Isn't it wonderful there's something for everyone? Have fun exploring here.

Welcome. I sometimes play music when I'm in my quilting room. It seems lately I've been enjoying just the peace and quiet though. You will get a lot of ideas from this site, and if you ever have a question just post a blog - someone will help you out. Usually you'll get several ways of doing it.

Hi Corina. I am a little new to this site like you. Fun and informative - nice people. I am also signed up with the SW Quilters on this site. I was born in ABQ and my uncle was in business there for many years (Sam Boren). I lived in Las Cruces for many years and we still get to NM often. My brother and his wife lived in Belen in the 80's as he was in business with the Bullocks there until late 80's. I now live in Tucson in a retirement community called SaddleBrooke. Tennis and golf are the sports here. My husband does both -- I can hit a ball moving through the air, but I have difficulty with the one just sitting there on the ground -- go figure. Can't wait to see all your goodies and I hope you enjoy the site and all the friends made here - and don't give up on the golf!
