Quilt With Us

We headed out two weeks ago meandering down to New Orleans to a conference. We both like civil war history so decided to visit some of the military parks. We started at Chattanooga at Lookout MT. Amazes us how they fought that battle on a mountain. We went downtown,  which is on TN river and a huge regatta was taking place. There were thousands there. Travelled onto Vicksburg, MS. Beautiful area with the gorgeous Antebellum homes. We took a swamp boat tour in Lafayette, LA. Always thought that wouldn't be my cup of tea. Boy was I wrong...absolutely gorgeous. Our guide was informative and fun. We visited the Tabasco factory on Avery Island. The only place it is made. Takes three years to age. That morning, they were bottling for Italy. At 9am they had done 87,000 bottles. Sterling salt factory is also in this area. Took the back roads to New Orleans. They were harvesting sugar cane in the fields. We were wined and dined by departments that Gary works with. OH my...the food was unreal!!! Spent time shopping and of course going to Cafe Demond! Spent our last night on Bourbon street with friends from San Antonio. What fun...driving home the next day was challenging!!! We came home to a snowstorm so got us back to reality very fast.

A great trip to LA and lots of memories made to share with others. DH and I traveled in our MH to some of those states in :99. A trip to remember. We went on an air boat ride near Sabine State Park and saw the alligators an on Cotton Mouth Snake. What a wild ride that was for seeing what we saw. So glad that you were able to do and see what you did. I love the pictures you posted. Sure didn't know that about Tabasco Sauce. We have some in our fridge, so now know how long it takes to process and age. Thanks for sharing.

What a fun trip!  There are some very interesting places in this country.  I'm glad you were able to take in some sights.

Larry & I went to NOLA in June.  Had a good time except for the amount of rain & humidity we had to put up with.  This time of the year would probably be better.

What great pictures, so glad you shared!  I love seeing vacation photos.  Sorry reality gave you a smack like that.  It probably made you wish you could turn around and head right back.

WOW, what a trip. Love the photos. When are you heading to Fla?  I can understand your disappointment on coming home to snow. We got a dusting a couple of days last week but then we got some heavy rain and washed it all off.
