Quilt With Us

Hello, I’ve been debating posting on here for several days and finally decided to write.  I’m in the Willamette Valley of Oregon and we’ve had wild fires since last Monday night.  We were on level 2 ‘get set’ at one point.  Our future daughter in law’s family has all been evacuated from their homes.  As far as we know, none of them have lost their homes at this time, but they haven’t been allowed to go back to check.   I would really appreciate prayers from you, we can use it!
On August 7, We moved my mom in with us from an assisted living facility.  She was not doing well there at all due to the visitor restrictions from Covid,  it’s been a bumpy ride, but she has settled in well with us and is very happy here.  My middle son, Connor is buying a house and once he’s settled, he will move my mom in with him.  I do have good news about Connor!  He and his gf, Jocelyn got engaged on August 24.  They are planning a very small ceremony in October and then will have a bigger wedding next spring or summer.  I’m thrilled she will be joining the family!

On August 10, my oldest son, Cory and his wife, Amanda announced they were expecting!  It would be our first grandchild!  Unfortunately, this past Friday night, Amanda lost the baby.  We are heartbroken, but we know everything is in God’s timing.  It hurts to go through this and I feel so bad for them.

I will be starting a king size quilt for a wedding gift for Connor & Jocelyn.  This will be the first king size quilt I’ve made!  I hope it turns out ok!

Thanks for listening and letting me share my good and bad news!

Sue,  my condolences to you and your loved ones on the loss of the baby.  That has to be very difficult to deal with.  I hope everyone stays safe and doesn't lose their home.  What a nightmare those fires are!  My husband has 2 brothers who still live near San Francisco and they have posted pics of the horrible air they are having to deal with. Congratulations to gaining a new DIL though.

Hi Sue, I have those fires out your way on my prayer list and yesterday our Pastor prayed for those fires. Congratulations to Connor and his wife to be. And I'm sorry for Cory and his wife losing their baby.

I have been making myself a quilt. Winning hands by Eleanor Burns. I finished the blocks last night. I'm planning on making quilts this Winter for my grand children and my two son's. I have seven grand children and two great grands but I made the three grandchildren down state last Winter and I made the two great grand children their's last year. So I have two king size and one queen size to make and I have to call two grandsons and a grand daughter to see what size they need. This is my first attempt on a queen and King but we have a big Rec. hall here in my complex so I'm hoping they will let me in to work on it. It's been closed during this pandemic. I'm hoping where I will be working alone they will permit me to go in and work on it. I have a lot of fabric that I want to use up so decided on this way to get my stash lowered. I'm going to be making more face masks to use up scrap fabric. Nice hearing from you.

Sue,  You've certainly had a time of emotional ups and downs lately.  My condolences on the loss of your first grandbaby.  Such a painful experience for all concerned.

Congratulations on your son's engagement!

I'm glad your mom is settling in well.  Being isolated is worse mentally and emotionally for the elderly than the risk of illness.

Praying for those involved in fighting fires and those who suffer loss because of them.

Good to hear from you.
