Quilt With Us

Hi my name is Betty, I live in Southern Iowa in a little town of Murray. I have never blogged before so this is really new to me. I have only been quilting about 2 years now. Sure wish I would of gotten into this great hobby before I retired. I get to quilting and that's all I want to do. Sometimes in the mornings, I put in a hat the following items to do today. Clean the house, do laundry, mow the grass, work in the garden or flowers and QUILT. Well wouldn't you know it, I draw Quilt everytime. HA HA Looking forward to meeting some new friends and swapping quilt knowledge with you all. Happy Quilting Betty

Thanks for the welcome Betty.  I still am figuring out all of this, so appreciate all the help I can get. It seems like I know alot of you ladies through Jackie O and feel very priviledged to get to know you all better.  You have some very pretty quilts and projects pictured here. Do you do your own quilting? Very nice, I am just starting to LA some of mine, I did alot of smaller ones on my Domestic.  Thanks, and will love getting to know you.

Hi Betty.  I met you in Des Moines at AQS and the IQ  meetings.  After reading your posts about Elmer and family I'm reassured there are angels among us and you are one of them.  I imagine you are looking forward to classes starting again at Quilt With Us.  I'd sure be there if I lived closer.  It's about a 5.5 hour from NW Arkansas to Lucas.  I'd never thought about putting items in a hat to draw out! I'm thinking about 100 pieces of paper that say quilt, 1 house cleaning, 10 flower garden, etc...  I finished my Christmas quilt--it was cut out completely on the Go! cutting system.  That was fun. Now on to the next project. Happy quilting!

Hi Betty. Is your Dad, by chance, having treatments in Creston? I have to see my cardiologist Wednesday afternoon at the hospital & would be a great chance to meet one another, if at all possible. I read the trouble your Dad is having & the prayers & support that this group of friends are giving you & I must add my well wishes of care & concern. You seem to be one very strong lady !! Until later...Gwen in Corning

hi Betty...gee, we really are not far apart as I'm in Corning! Maybe sometime we can meet at Quilts & Other Notions in Creston. I take care of a liitle guy almost 18 mos. old, I would love to quit even tho I would miss him terribly but I keep thinking he helps me with my "quilting habit"!!!! Will see what happens....he is napping now & what am I doing ?? messing around on the computer instead of hands on in my sewing room!!! later......Gwen

Hi Betty,
I too started quilting about 2 yrs ago and am retired. As we get up early, my system is simple too. I clean up kitchen, then have two days a week I vacuum.......Thats all then I get to quilt, play, etc. usually by 8:00 am.
Have fun.........Dawn

Betty,
Oh, I think if I was retired, I would do the hat trick too. AND draw quilt every time, just like you do. I do that on the weekends. Quilt, clean. Oh, no contest! Plus I got lots of new fabrics for Christmas, I have to get started on them, and work on my current projects. Just help me get out of quilter's jail. I am stuck in quilters jail, no real big offense, but here I sit anyway. Maybe I will be sprung soon.
Happy drawing out of the hat!

You went on that trip? Oh I would of loved to have went, my qulter friend in Murray had a daughter who was sick with cancer and we just didn't go cause it was not the right time. If you hear when they are planning another one please let me know. Cause I really really want to go on one. Her trip was within my budget. HA HA Have a great day quilting Jackie. I would like to meet sometime also. Betty

Hey, Betty...I live north east of Lorimor in Madison county. I am in a guild in Adel. I used to live there and still work there so going to guild there every 3rd Monday evening is convenient for me. The group is small (about 13 - 15) so very personal and fun. I would like to join the group in Winterset, but the meetings are on the same night as Adel and since I'm a charter member in Adel, I would hate to leave the group. If and when I ever get to retire, then I'll probably just go to the one in Winterset. I also like the Lucas and Creston shops. I went on the bus trip in September out of Lucas. It was a blast. Nice to talk to you. Maybe we can meet in person some time soon. Jackie
