Quilt With Us

I am home bound now as our governor issued a ‘stay at home’ order this morning.  We can go to the grocery store or medical appointments or certain jobs. My husband is still working because his company is considered essential, they make parts for military and medical equipment.  My mom is in an assisted living facility and no visitors have been allowed there for over a week.  I call her daily as well as some of my siblings and my sons.  I have a quilt that I need to get done and could drop off for her.  She is confused over this, I try to reassure her that it will be short-lived and I pray that it is.  My youngest son is a nurse, so far he’s managed to stay healthy!  He’s young, just turned 26 last week, so he has that in his favor! I’ve been getting a lot of yard work done, but this morning our nice weather took a turn and the rain has returned.  I guess the rainy weather will give me a chance to get some quilting done.  I hope you all stay well!

Sue, you're just over the mountains and a bit to the north of us in Bend. I hope everyone stays put until we slow the virus down enough to where we can treat it and have enough hospital space and equipment for everyone involved. I don't suppose you could FaceTime or Skype with your mom. We are doing that with our kids and their families. We don't have anyone in an assisted living facility or nursing home, but I can imagine what it must be like for everyone. We're both in our late 70s, so considered at risk. We're being very, very careful. Stay safe, and good luck with your family's safety, and the same wishes for all.

I feel badly for your mom.  I also pray this will be short lived.  I hope your son and everyone in the medical field stay safe.  They are our heroes.  We are also under a "safer at home" order for the next month.

Wow, Irene that’s a lot of snow!  I’m glad you’re making a quilt for yourself, it seems we are always last on our list to make for!  Janet, yes I have thought about going outside my mom’s window to visit.  I was going to call the office and make sure that would be ok.  She lives on the ground floor and looks out over the parking lot and all the activity there which has been good for her.  Thanks for the comments and updates, I appreciate them!

I am sticking really close to home too as my husband has health issues.  I have seen articles where people have looked in the windows at their loved ones who are in assisted living facilities so their loved ones can still see them.  Would that possibly be an option for you & your mom?

Hi Sue, We are also home bound here in Maine except for getting food supplies and medical appointments. So far the county I'm in hasn't had any cases but I'm sure we will before this is over. I'm working on a quilt for myself. I have made quilts for most of the family and I don't have one. We are getting a big snow storm. I just cleaned off my car and it measured 8" and it's still snowing hard. But a good sunny day will get rid of it. We have been having good weather and the ground was bare. But we are used to this. We will complain of the heat when Summer comes.
