Quilt With Us

Well, it’s Monday and we left Houston this morning after packing up the motor home and returning the rental van. Market and Festival is really something. If you EVER have a chance to go to Festival, you won’t be sorry. It is truly something you think you know but it’s that and more. One hour before the doors opened the line of ladies was 4 and 5 deep and 2 city blocks long. Then the doors open and the rush is on. Most of the day on Thursday and Friday, you could hardly get thru some of the isles. They had, not only quilt paraphernalia but antiques, jewelry, jewelry cleaner, shoes, shoes with springs on the heals, clothes, beads, and fingernail painting. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The only word that really explains it is: WOW! Then, there’s the quilt show. Amazing…quilts of every medium you can imagine. It took me 4 days of going in 1-2 hours early to hurriedly see all the quilts. They had a special area for Quilts of Valor, Breast Cancer Quilts and Project Linus. Quilts from all over the world. A special exhibit from Japan, Russia and Germany. An antique quilt section, painted quilts, art quilts, traditional quilts and many more. There is no way I can explain what it is you feel when you walk among all those beautiful quilts. It almost takes your breath away.
I caught a awful head cold during Festival. With the noise level what it was, you had to get right into a persons face to hear what they were saying. So with the cold piled on top of being so tired, I can’t think of anything else to say. I’ll post some quilt during the drive home. I’m off to bed. Have a great evening.

Debbie, thanks for taking us to Houston. We sure enjoyed our time there. Now to get home safe and sound is all I ask. Hope you get over that nasty cold. At least we didn't catch it while we were there!!

I haven't been to Festival in 8 yrs so hope to go next yr. Now that I'm living in MO I hope to go to the Chicago festival in April. It really takes at least 2 full days to see the whole thing and 3 would be even better.

My goodness Debbie, you captured the Market so well that I feel like I've been there in my mind. You did a wonderful job keeping us posted on the happenings. I truly enjoyed reading your blogs during the trip including the Market. Rest well, and be safe driving home. I look forward to reading your blog at home safe and sound! PS: tks for the compliment on my bag.

Wow is hardly the word to describe what you were able to see, do and participate in. A friend went to one 2 yrs ago and from her descriptions, you've nailed it. She was so impressed with everything and could hardly stop talking about for days. Since she lives in Buffalo, WY, a long distance call, was really long. So glad that you've had such a great experience. Take in sights coming home and hope that you don't run into any snow. Take care.

I think WOW sums up the show from what you and others have shared. I hope you sleep well tonight and that your cold quickly fades. Good thing you have your chauffeur with you. Take care my friend.
