Quilt With Us

Ok it's my favorate saying when I have a problem. I just put the border on a quilt that I am making for my other half. He wanted to give it to his boss as it is one that they liked. I put the top on my king size bed and I do like the way it looks. The problem: I measured the darn thing and it is 10feet across and the length is 10 feet. I only have 10 foot poles for my longarm machine. I could probably get the quilt into the rack but I doubt that I would be able to get the machine out to the edges of the quilt. ANY Body got any brilliant ideas on how to solve this one. I can't afford to go out and buy new poles for the quilt rack. :(

I have no clue about long arm poles but is there some way you can rent poles or put a cry out locally and borrow some poles? I know conduit poles at stores like Home Depot are really really cheap. I use them to make my booth. Maybe they would work? They come all sizes and aren't heavy. There...that's all the brain power I have until my coffee kicks in.

If he doesn't need a king size quilt,, can you cut back on your border size?? I encountered this problem with a quilt not to long ago,,, to large for my mid arm frame,,, I ended up quilting the borders on my sewing machine,,, not quite the same thing, but it was done. Also,,, you could quilt the borders until your machine couldn't go any farther,, that way it would only be 2 sides you would have to fill in. Sorry, I can't be of more help.

Does it have borders?? If so do your quilting inside the center with the machine and then you could hand quilt a pattern on th borders only...........You know like a loop-ty-loop on the border.
