Quilt With Us

How did I get myself into this mess?

So previously I posted a picture of my version of the broken star quilt that I will never make again. See photo below.  Today I spent most of the day learning how to use the Cricut Maker that I bought last year.  I posted a photo before of the designs that I wanted to put onto this quilt.  Well I finally got them cut out and ready to transfer to the quilt.  I've put in a request to use my daughters floor sense she has a big house and open floor space to lay out the quilt and trace the designs onto the fabric. I can also get the quilt and batting and backing pinned together once the designs are traced on.  This could be interesting.  Some of the designs in the picture below are only a few inches in size.  The idea is to trace and stitch on the lines.  I will be using my new HQ sit down machine.  I have done free motion quilting on much smaller projects (a pillow case) but never on a quilt and never with these calligraphy designs.  I know I'm going to be doing alot of samples before I even think about working on the quilt.  I will post pictures of my progress.

I think I have a lot of patience but wouldn't even dream of taking on a task this big. I'm anxious to see the finished project.

Yikes!  Looks complicated to me, but it will sure be pretty.

If you have a large dining room table, or any big table, I would lay it out there in sections. I had a queen size quilt that my friend helped me with this way. first, we used painters tape to tape to table to hold backing and went from there. I couldn't have done it w/o her. Good luck to you on this - your quilt will be beautiful when you get all done, but it's beautiful now!

Oh, my dear heart, (and back) Kathy!  Whatever were you thinking?   You are going to do this on the floor?  This is so ambitious I can't get my head around finishing this project!  Have a glass of wine and think about it.
