Quilt With Us

This won't mean much to most of you out there but I just have to share this and since I'm rather isolated from family and friends I choose the next best thing by reaching out to all of you.
My oldest son called me yesterday with the news that he's engaged. Now, that might not seem like a big deal but for him it's enormous. His life has been a long journey of challenges, heartbreak, tragedies, missteps and mistakes and at times I've been the only one in his corner.
I've heard it said there's no more powerful prayer than a prayer a mother has for her child and I doubt there are few mothers who have prayed harder than I but it seems as though my prayers are finally being answered.

All we can ask in this life for our children is for them to be happy and to find someone who will love them and share their lives so that they might find fulfillment.

So now I ask for all of you who read this to send a positive thought his way. He needs all the help he can get.
His name is Erick and his fiancee is Lisa.

Thanks.

P.S. Oh my gosh! I have a wedding quilt to make!!

Well Renee, that was last year, how's it going now? That was exciting news... when is/was the wedding? and by the way, I LOVE your teapot quilt! Thanks for sharing. ... Ruth

I am at a loss for words at the outpouring of kindness and support I received in response to my news about Erick and Lisa. What a blessing to have so many friends!
I failed to mention, though this event is no less celebratory, that my husband and I are leaving for a trip tomorrow for a surprise engagement party for his son (my stepson). We've known this was coming for several months and Scott chose this weekend when he and his Mom and sister take their annual vacation at Hilton Head. Krista, the bride to be, doesn't know it's coming though she's been teasing him about asking her to marry him.
Scott doesn't know his Dad and I are coming and he doesn't know we've planned a surprise party (after he's popped the question and hopefully she's accepted!) so it will be a surprise all the way around.
And just so you all know, he's already put his order in for a wedding quilt!

Since I've discovered the awesome power of the positive energy of the QWU force, how about funneling some of that good will and support toward helping me lose 50 lbs for these upcoming weddings? Yikes!

You can give them love in the new wedding quilt and your Mother's Love is the best. Mom's support and caring is better than food and air. God Bless and enjoy.

Best wishes to your son and his wife to be....before I read your P.S. I was thinking to myself "time to make a wedding quilt". No matter how old our kids are, we never stop praying for them. I pray that God will grant them a rich (rich with love for each other) and full life together...thanks for sharing

Wow! Reading your blog about your son, I could have inserted the name of my youngest. I could not have made it through without the power of prayer and God giving me the strength to look at the heart and not the actions. Isn't it wonderful when that light bulb goes off and they finally choose to turn their life around? I am sooooooooo happy for you all! Certainly reason to celebrate. I hope Erick knows what a special Mom he has. God blessed him with you!

Renee, my 3 sons are all married now and have children of their own. They all had their moments in their lives like your son Erick. I had knee burns from so many prayers but God is Faithful!!!! He gives us His word that if we bring up our children in the way they should go when they are old they will not depart from it. He is answering that promise with Erick. I pray that Lisa and Erick have a long and happy life together and make God head of their household. I pray that God will bless them and give them favor. I pray that the joy of the Lord will be their strength and that Erick will love Lisa with all his heart and she will show Erick respect and honor him as her husband. I pray that you and Lisa will be blessed with a wonderful relationship and that God will guide you through the next months and in the years to come. I am a mother-in-law of 3 dil's and two of them are wonderful wives and mothers. The other one has always held to her own family and has not been close to us. I pray that Lisa will not be like that but will embrace you with open arms and you the same with her. Even with the dil I am not as close to I respect her because my son has been a faithful husband, provider and father and he is happy. That is all that matters. If he is happy and not in the life that he used to be in that is enough for me. Someday God will give us back the years the locust ate.

Enjoy making the wedding quilt. Enjoy this special time in your life and welcome this new family member with open arms. Congratulations!!

I've been through some of my darkest days because of my youngest son. But I kept praying. He has not only turned his life completely around now, he has found God! That was one of the most astonishing moments of my life. He is now planning an October wedding to the mother of his two children and I couldn't be happier! This is a girl who has been by his side and seen him through a lot of troubled times. Mother's prayers are the most powerful. After all, who can intercede the best for us, even to Jesus, His mother! Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your good news!

Congratulations! I know somewhat what you went through. I have a 20 year old son and a 18 year old daughter and neither has had a date yet. They are wondering if something is wrong with them. My son wants someone to share his life with and wonders about finding her. Everyone wants to be "friends" I told him that is the best way to start a relationship. Congratulate Erick and Lisa for me and I know they will have a wonderful life together. It was worth the wait I am sure.
