Quilt With Us

Been a while since my last blog post, and I figured its time for an update to all the wonderful women who consoled and encouraged me (thanks for that).

When I last posted, I had recently lost my cat. We adopted a pair of kittens and although they don't replace my Diesel, they distract me.

My Mom had broken a hip and she's all better now.

My friend Cindy, who's husband as been accused of her murder, well, the S.O.B. hasn't begun the trial process yet.

My mother-in-law was diagnosed with lung cancer...advanced. Not great prognosis with this type even when its caught early. Best case scenario she has another 10 months to a year.

My daughter was diagnosed with MS. She's doing OK now and is beginning medicine to surpress the flare-ups. Time will tell.

See? I'm so ready for this summer to be over. This past weekend I took off to Maine with my featherweight and elderly cat. I finished the quilt top (for MY bed this time) which I started a year ago. Don't know when I'll have time, but the plan is to put it on my sister's long arm. If I get a few days off work I can probably quilt it in a few days, but I don't want to tie up her machine for long with my project, so I'll wait for now. If I don't get a chance before, then Christmas week I have off.

Next I'm doing that "stairway to heaven" cat wallhanging for my office. :)

Jennie - Clara has always been a good traveller. In her younger days, she would ride on my lap (in a harness) in my Jeep with no top and no doors. We'd go visiting all the time. Then my Mom got her own cat, and Clara didn't like visiting so much. She gets skittish with the top down when we go under underpasses or big trucks pass us, but I hardly ever go topless anymore. Your kitty looks a bit like my Othello. He's not such a good traveller, but I practice now and then by taking him and his sister on short drives.

Sunshine, yes, I see the measurement is quite large. I was thinking about shaving it down a block's width and height. My office wall doesn't have any furniture against it, so it would fit, but I'm not sure it would look right.

The situations are each calming down. Not so much surprise about the illnesses, and less anger about the death of my friend. I'm healthy and feeling fine myself except for occasional migraines - I picked up literature in my daughter's neurologist's office about migraines, and what I thought were tension or non-migraine headaches actually are migraines. The big, nasty debilitating for days ones are pretty rare though, thank goodness. Thanks all for your warm fuzzy thoughts!

Beautiful cat, looks like my MisBehaven. You deserve some good things coming your way, Aili. My prayers are with you.

I've done the stairway quilt... gave it to step daughter one christmas.... it came out a whole lot bigger than I thought it would. Liked it so well that I'm thinking of doing one for myself. ( I was lucky and got it when they were offering it for FREE)
You and your family have certainly had more than your share of woes. I hope things ease up a little for you and SOON. Don't forget to take care of yourself so that you'll have the strength to care for your loved ones.

Aili, you've sure had to deal with a lot of stress and turmoil this summer. Hopefully the cooler fall weather will bring with it a time of peace and relief.

What a summer you have had. It's hard when there are so many things, and none of them little. I hope that things will level off for a while and you can catch your breath and have more moments of laughter than of tears. I'm so glad you are doing a quilt for you now - that is wonderful. Your wallhanging for your office sounds like a perfect project for you! Take care - you are much in our thoughts and prayers.

Aili, thinking of you and hugs being sent your way. Way too much to deal with all at once but keep looking up.

Ali, so sorry to hear all the bad news...I hope that things improve for everyone. It was good that you were able to take some time for yourself. Take care and prayers sent for you and your family.

Wow you have had a lot to deal with. Glad you can take some time off. Kittys do tend to take some of our stress away. They're good company. We took ours on a cross country trip this summer. That was a challenge at times, but for the most part he was a good traveler.
