Quilt With Us

My DGD's 13-yr old step-sister spent a couple of days with me as she was 'grounded' by her mom for being rude.  To keep her from being bored I took her with me to the local quilt shop as I needed a few things.  She saw an apron pattern and her first comment was that she'd like to make one for her mom (as an atonement, I guess). So we bought the pattern and the materials to make the apron.  She did it mostly on her own, and I'm quite proud of her accomplishment.

Here she is modeling the apron.

Beautiful--girl and apron!  What a wise thing to do with her--so much better than your letting her sit and stew OR her mom just ignoring the initial problem.  Hope she keeps stitching!

I am sure her mom forgave her quickly after seeing this lovely apron!!!  What a sweet young lady to want to do this for her mom even after getting in trouble.  "Love overcomes a mulititude of wrongs"!! Amen!!

Beautiful girl,  and talented as well.  She did a fine job sewing it.  Great peace offering for her mother.

First...tell your DD she's a good mom for calling her on her bad behavior and sticking to it!  Second...what a beautiful young lady she is!  She is going to be a heartbreaker for sure.  I think this was such a wonderful way for you to handle her "punishment" by turning it into a productive session of bonding by making a gift for her Mom.  Hopefully this is the first of many such sewing sessions!  Tell her I said good job!!  I did that same apron pattern with black trim/pockets and big sunflowers for the main fabric.  Love it!!
