Interested in learning embroidery?

I get lovely daily emails from one of my favorite design/DIY places: Design*Sponge, and I was delighted to find a really cute picture tutorial on various embroidery stitches, all sampled together within an embroidery hoop. This project is so cute! I would love to make this; it would be good practice for me.

Here's the blog posting

I also saw something similar at a friend's house, only she did a sample of all her stitches from her sewing machine. The stitches were neatly sampled in a colorful array of threads on a long piece of linen. Has anyone else made a sampler with their sewing machine, or hand-embroidery?

I've been thinking of doing this. I would so love to learn hand embroidery. There are so many patterns I just love, but still need to learn how. Since the beginning of the year I've just learned how to quilt and have also gotten back into knitting. Maybe next year I can take on embroidery and applique. Thanks for sharing!
