Quilt With Us

This is the time of year when I get the itch to start new projects.  I know I should resolve to finish up those UFOs or WIPs, but for some reason I just want to clean off my quilting space and start in with a brand new project that has been waiting for "someday."

Does anyone else get the urge to start new projects in January, or do you just resolve to finish what you've started?

Weeell... I always do. But then there's never enough time, and I end up finishing the projects I began before Christmas time!!   And then, mid January, I'm able to start what I had wished to start -- and it's usually something that requires learning new things, not just techniques already mastered...

I usually start holiday projects in December and work on them throughout the holiday season using up my holiday fabric scraps. I made simple 9 -patch throw and an angel wall hanging with the potential for some pillows with the left over blocks. Yep...looking forward, i've created more of a monster of UFO's.

Happy New Year!

I am in the same boat PQ. Maybe a little worse since I have already bought the fabrics for new projects. Just need to find time to get them and UFO's done. But starting new projects is always fun.

I love starting new projects and after the holidays it seems extra fun. Maybe it's the weather but I'll bet that on January 1, I'll be digging through my fabric and pattern ideas and have another UFO before it gets dark.

PQ you are not alone! I don`t clear all of my projects that I am working on but pile on the new ones too. I am starting 3 new applique projects this year Vintage Valentine, Sally Post, and Birds of a Feather that has both appliue and piecing. sooooo I should be pretty busy. I will not list my UFO`s you will just gasp...

Plus another note...I cannot say no to block swaps I am just finishing another one and will be in the Secret Sister one this year...no no not to much to do at all. plus I work full time and part time. but no kids...

Happy new year.

OMGosh...it's contagious....I thought it was just me.  It doesn't take January to get the itch to hit. it happens to me all year long.  I say Go For It...you have all year to work on those UFO's.  Happy New year to you and your family

Barb, Exactly!  No obligations, just something fun.

Vic - Thanks for the laugh.  As I was reading, I was mentally calculating all kinds of ways to cheat, uh, sabotage the outcome!

Robert - I like the "shot in the arm" analogy.  Seems to describe what I get out of it, too.  Something fun and new to enjoy and get me excited about finishing up some of the unfinished ones again.

Pam - Hey, a legitimate EXCUSE!  I love justification.

YES I DO.  I get the itch right after Christmas.  I think for me it's just a shot in the arm to get going.

With the pressure of gifts out of the way for a little while, at least.  I get the urge to do something new, something just for the pure enjoyment of it!
