I've been quilting since 1974 and have taken many fantastic classes and techniques through shops and guilds and have taught a few as well. I belong to 2 guilds but have rarely been so ahead on projects to get them in for show & tell before they are due to be gifted. Also I just get weird about receiving compliments, yes I know how to say "Thank You", but being on stage and the center of attention pushes my comfort levels sorely.
I took Watercolor Quilts from Magaret & Slusser and still believe it is a foundation technique that gets people past their color fears because it emphasizes value.
My favorite classes that I've grown the most with have been by Katie Pasquini Masopust. I admire how she pushes her artistry and share her techniques so well. Seriously take her classes because of her organization you get the project well started and the confidence to apply the techniques to your other projects.
Another great teacher full of tips is Jan Krentz. Sharon Craig has retired but also amazing.
What I'm looking for are quilting challenges that push me to problem solve. I'm also starting to flesh out a couple of themes that I want to work along, You know start a quilt, finish it and then start another the same but pressing it to the next level of discovery.
So I'm searching for others who don't give compliments but critiques with eyes that discern.
