Quilt With Us

WE GOT NEWS!
After blessing a young family with two healthy, strong, independent baby boys to our family clan in the last 5 years my only daughter called this morning with tears of joy in her voice (at 6am my time) rising me out of my morning slumber with 'MOM IT'S A GIRL'. I had to ask, "Baby are you ok, what what is going on...until it hit me.
We are going to celebrate the birth of our first baby girl in our family come early Jan 2010.
I was awake now. I cannot list the emotions I actually felt and the feeling of "thanks" to our Lord for giving us again a VERY BIG blessing.
Now to keep this little family healthy, happy and moving forward for the next months until the little bundle arrives. While sending me your best wishes, send me your best baby sewing ideas!

Congrats Mary, as the grandmother of a new baby girl Sophia Emily and also 5 year old Ava, I can say you are in for a wonderful experience. Little boys and little girls are the same yet different in the things that you will experience with a granddaughter. Other than quilts and receiving blankets I must admit to not having sewn much of anything else. Little sweater sets (knitting) or fleece items would be good for a January baby. I now seem to be getting into doll clothes, that will be my Christmas presents for my older granddaughter. I have a bunch of Cabbage Patch doll patterns from when my daughter was little, time to dig them out. Enjoy the anticipation.

Congratulations! How exciting for your family! Prayers for all of you, for sure!
When my three oldest were expecting their little ones, I made each of them a baby quilt according to how they wanted to decorate the room. Baby bibs, Hooter Hiders (for breastfeeding moms), Boppy covers, crib sheets, dust ruffles, diaper holders and more are just touching the base of some general items that most parents can use. There are so many really neat books out there now by quilt designers just for this sort of thing, and what's nice is, the styles and designs are appealing to young mom's now, so nothing appears outdated. Oh, car seat covers that can be removed and washed are a definite plus!

Congratulations, what a wonderful way to be awakened. After having 3 boys of my own I was pretty excited when I found out my 1st grandchild was going to be a girl. I celebrate with you your joy and thanksgiving. My best sewing idea would be to make sure and make her a taggie. I have pics posted on my page and if you need more info after seeing them give me a yell. My 3 month old grandson is really loving his now. He lights up when he sees it and knows it is cuddle time.
God Bless your daughter, you and your family and this precious new life coming your way!!!!

Congratulations Grandma! My prayers are with you. After many, many boys, I got my first girl, (a granddaughter!) 5 years ago. She was followed a year ago by another girl. I finally have "my girls!" and it's wonderful! They are the light of my life! Blessings to you and yours!
