Quilt With Us

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

I'm starting to get into the Christmas spirit and I finished my first Christmas project of the year. It's the Celebrate Runner from the Runners, Etc. book which obviously I love since I reviewed it! I made it in the Wrap It Up! Collection and my son Tyler and I did a photoshoot with it :) I know it's a little sick and wrong to be singing Christmas Carols in August but I loves me some Christmas decorations and they put me in a great mood! I was also happy to discover that I could figure out a way to make this a Quilt As You Go project. I love a good puzzle and that's kind of what Quilt As You Go is to me. On a sad note - I need a moment to whine. Poor Jada Janome has to go to the Dr's today. She's having bobbin issues and my DH is taking her in for me. I had a moment of panic though when I realized I didn't have a sewing machine to sew on. I had lent out Gemma Gem Gold to Kelley from work who has been flirting with learning to sew. I had my Strip to the Beach Tote all cut out and ready to go and nothing to sew on. I had quite a moment I'll tell you and was slow to recover. I mean the baby was sleeping and everything. I almost had to clean house... horrors! I quickly recovered my senses though and cut out binding and finished knitting a hat instead, it was close though.

I asked to have my "spare" machine back. I felt much better when I had her in my arms! I'm not lending her out again - it was too scary! Sounds like Jada is going to be fine and my DH is going to pick her up today. He was pretty proud of himself since he diagnosed the problem before we took her in. He's dubbed himself as the sewing machine Dr. now.

I've had the same issues, a couple of years ago I bought a new pfaff that was in the shop all the TIME. I would go into panic mode just knowing I couldn't sew if I wanted to, fast forward about 5 years. I have 5 machines. When this happens you deal with the guilt of not using all of them. I really need a BIG sewing room with all of them set up. This is my "dream" just dont know how I will accomplish it.

I've decided that every quilter needs a backup machine so am contemplating getting another as I cannot stand the thought of not having one handy. Love your runner too. Never too soon to start Christmas sewing and what a sweet picture with Tyler and the extra decorations. Great idea!

The table runner is great. It is strange to be doing Christmas items, I agree........ but I too have been working on some table toppers to give to others for the holiday, so I understand where you are coming from...... I made myself one or two (LOL) also!!
Sorry about your Jada, but you know it will be returned in much better fashion for a long run to come!!
Your little guy is darling!! Thanks for sharing!
Hugs!

Terri I understand the sorrow of Jada going to the Dr. Hopefully it is a short and sweet visit. This is not the time to clean house. When the cold weather is here and we are stuck inside then maybe consider cleaning. If your hands are itchy for quilting you could always cut out a few things. I like to cut out more than one at a timel Have fun and I hope Jada is home safe and sound. [also cheaply to] I do love your tabel runner - I have used some of wrap it up in my Chhristmas swap squares. Great the you were able to Quilt as you go. Made another snowman hanging also. I can't believe Tyler is so big and handsome.

Oh the weather outside is sweltering, and the grass are all a-drying, let it snow, let is snow, let is snow...I always tell my family that it can snow all it wants after the fourth of July. I have been searching my stash for all the nice Christmas fabrics so I can start my holiday projects, too.
Tyler is certainly one handsome boy!

Oh how cute! How wonderful that you figured ot how to do it as Q-A-Y-G.
Poor Jada! I hope she feels much better real soon.
OH, Horrors! Not that dreadful house cleaning! It is not Spring any more, Teri. You cannot clean house now. It may turn the world around.
Tyler really is getting to be a big boy. He is precious.

I've always thought that sewing machine repair shops should have loaners on hand. Tyler has gotten so big and he is too too cute! Love the table runner!
