Quilt With Us

This is what I got up to this morning!! Heavy, heavy snow accumulated on all the trees and branches all around the house. What you see through the trees is the pond. The power went out about 1 AM - yes, I was up watching TV - 5 minutes before the end of the movie I was watching - poof!! Off it went!! We got about a foot of really sticky snow!! The plowman came early so now my sweetie is out shoveling the deck and cleaning off the vehicles - what fun, eh? His fishing is curtailed for a few days!! He is not a happy camper!! I have a quilt meeting to go to tonight. I have to go, I'm bringing dessert!!

Have a happy quilting day!!

You are referring to "Jan" the owner? I have been there several times - she vended at our little quilt show last spring in Gardiner - she knows me as "the gadget queen" - LOL -so who is your family in Troy? I may know them! Heck, I might know you!! It is certainly a small world! Will you be at Maine Quilts in July? Can't wait to see your quilts!!

Nice to hear back from you. It is a small world. My Mom was born and brought un in Troy. Still has family there. I loved to see the picture from the snow storm. We got about 16 inches here in Detroit and my plowman(my sweetie), just loves to plow snow. The next time that your in the area you should stop in at Stitches in Newport. That is my second home. The owner, Janice, is a long time friend and is the reason that I have such an addiction to quilting. I do a lot of the samples for the shop. Janice hosts several block of the month classes. the first one is Thimbleberries and the second one that I attend is an heirloon quilt block of the month. I have just finished a quilt top using the Lucy and the chocolate factory line of material. I just love her and when I saw this fabric I knew that I had to have it and this is the first quilt that is just for me. Ususally I give my quilts away. I will try to put the quilt on line just as soon as I quilt it. Working on one now for a customer. I do sewing and alterations onthe side to support my material habit. My rule is that as long as I have sewing to do for someone else I can't work on my own. It keeps me motivated. Hope to hear from you soon. Mickey

Beautiful picture. I wouldn't be brave enough to go anywhere though. I'd stay home and eat the dessert myself.

Absolutely beautiful! Hate it when the power goes off though.

The power was off for only a few hours and I was snuggled up under my quilts!! The morning after a snow storm is beautiful - everything so clean and pure - no footprints, just animal prints - we are overrun with squirrels - I think it's mating season the way they are scampering up and down and all around the trees!! Oh, and the Blue Jay's - bright blue against stark white - so very very pretty! After I posted this photo, honey knocked the snow off of all of the branches he could reach!! But, the big pine trees are laden and touching the ground. Forecast calls for warming and maybe rain later in the week - should melt a good bit of this stuff!

Barb I'm sorry you didn't have electricity but I think the snow is beautiful. Hope you are staying warm on this cold snowy day. Happy quilting.

Oh Barb!
I love the picture you posted! Let the world see the beauty of this mess in our back yards!
My yard looks the same. I am in Portland,Maine. I have been out twice to knock the heavy snow off the birch trees in my back yard. The weight of the snow makes them bend right to the ground and I hope they don't break.
I was in PA all week and they have NO snow below northern Mass. at all. When we got home late Sat. we could not even get the truck into the driveway thanks to the plows and the rain which froze the snowbanks into ice.Yuck!
I did visit some nice quilt shops in PA though, and had several quilt magazines and a CT catalog waiting for me when I got home. Good reading for this snowy no school day. A bonus day off!
