Quilt With Us

Here's my version of January's Snowman, from Mari Martin's pattern for her CT book "Itty Bitty Quilts," hanging on the little wire display.

I did make a rookie mistake by not doubling the batting I used for the snowman's body, because the snowy blue background shows through slightly.  My bad.  Won't happen again.

Carolyn - The snowman is white batting, Quilter's Dream request weight.  It gives him a little texture.  Be sure to double!

Carol Ann - your block is soooo cute!  I love the sky in the background and I will definitely double up the batting on the snowman!  Thanks for that.  What fabric is your snowman made of?  Looks like felt??

I need to make this snowman; he is so cute  and maybe he will bring some snow. We did get the cold last night.

Peggy - Hmm. . .  I hadn't considered that possibility.  I'll have to think on it!

Yes, all the calendar squares are just 6", and there are 12 of them, although I suppose you could enlarge them if you wished.  Hence the name "Itty Bitty"!  They make up pretty quickly.

So cute!  Love how the smile gives him so much personality.  I had no idea it was only a 6" square.

I didn't notice it until you mentioned it. You probably could stuff some loose batting in through the back by working between the threads, the way they used to do trapunto, but I think it's lovely the way it is. Is that a 6" block? Seriously?
