the 'nut' you have to remove to replace the blade on my rotary cutter (fiskar brand) won't stay tight. I've had it for years without any problem, but since the last time I changed the blade, I have to keep tightening it up every time I use it. Any one have any idea why.. or how to solve this problem? I've even tried flipping the 'nut' over, but got the same results.

just pulled out my other 'old' fiskars rotary cutter... found out it doesn't have the black nut - has the orange one. Also found out that the new rotary cutter that's still in it's unopened pkg is a fiskars, too... but it's green instead of dark gray & orange like the older models. I thought it was another brand. I bought it because Walmart had rotary cutter replacement discs/blades on clearance and I scooped up the 60mm.. got home and found out the two cutters I had were the 45mm, so back I went to also scoop up the 60mm cutter and a couple of the 45 mm replacement blades while they were clearance priced. I'm not sure, but it seems like there should be a couple more lying hidden in my sewing room someplace.

I have two also, plus a couple of other brands... my fiskars have the black nuts - I don't remember any washers, either.

I have two Fiskars rotary cutters, an older one with a black nut, and a newer one with an orange plastic flower-type nut. I have been using the newer one for a while and the nut kept coming loose. I finally got tired of it and switched the nuts (because the blade in the other needs replacing and I would have had to walk all the way across the room--LOL) and the old black nut stays tight just fine. I have not used the other a lot since the switch, although I did cut a bunch of template plastic and I don't think it came loose. And neither of them have washers, although I could swear I remember a curved washer. Maybe I'm the one with the loose nut!!

ROFL at the image of you making a 'kimono sort of overcoat' out of 21 yds of fabric... bet it was WARM. Sounds like you had a wonderful time.
I know Fiskars stands behind the warranty on the soft touch scissors... now, we'll have to find out about rotary blades.

lol yes you made lots of sense... I was already thinking about calling fiskars... they should almost know me on a first name basis by now lol. I've had to call them about replacement parts for my small soft touch scissors that came with lifetime warranty. That was my hesitation on the rotary cutter, I don't remember what kind of warranty, if any, came with it. Guess I'll have to call them Monday to find out.
I know what you mean about postage from the U.S. I have a chatfriend who lives in Australia now, but was raised in the U.S. she misses the candy corn that is so popular here at halloween time, so I thought I'd surprise her and send her a pound, which cost me all of a dollar... the postage, though, was TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS... I told her to enjoy cuz I wouldn't be sending more lol.
