Quilt With Us

I bought a new Brother sewing machine almost 2 years ago.  I've been working on the applique project posted earlier.  Suddenly the darn machine doesn't want to work right.  I tried cleaning lint out, changed bobbin, re-threaded I don't know how many times to no avail.  I called the store that I bought it from and they said I could bring the machine in and that they would look at it.  I asked how much sense it was over a year old.  $179.00  Hummmmm I'll fix it myself thank you very much.    Finally changed the needle and it works just fine.  And to think they wanted to charge me that much to change a needle.

I agree Barb...I love cleaning my kenmore that I've had for 20 years. It runs like a new machine..

So frustrating!  I'm not happy with the way my machine is sounding lately.  I know it needs cleaning, but now our nearest Janome dealer is over an hour away, and the nearest place that will take all makes is 50 miles.  It seems like the machines are made now so that it is more difficult to take them apart yourself to do much maintenance on your own.

Yes!!! The new warranties are 349.00 for 3 years. I do a lot of sewing on my Viking and Baby Lock, which I bought in 2006. Warranty ran out on BL, so, I decided not to renew it. It's my back up machine. The excuse they gave is, that the parts they need to fix the machines are lots higher because of the trade deal with China. The warranty jumped $100.00 from the last time I got it for my Viking.
