Comment by Lori/MD on July 2, 2012 at 4:05pm this is great! Doesn't say a thing about making sure you have the baby securely strapped into his bouncy seat on the cutting table while he's sleeping!!!!!
Comment by Prairie Quilter/NE on July 2, 2012 at 5:18am Great for a chuckle, BJ. Mine would read have your work clothes and boots on in case hubby comes to the house needing help outside. It would bypass the makeup and make sure a hat and leather gloves are in reach on the mad dash out of the house.
Comment by Joan on July 1, 2012 at 10:49am Well now, I agree with the first part about being serious in your approach to the sewing machine. You've got to lock the doors, pull down the blinds, don your two can beer hat, check both spigots, then go for broke. Don't know where that makeup and housecleaning bit fits in the picture.
I love it. Thank goodness they did not say anything about not wearing your jammies while sewing.
Comment by Stephanie G. Benson-Greer on July 1, 2012 at 8:47am This is too funny, but it does have ring of truth in it for me! I have to make my bed (because to get to the living room, you go by the masterbedroom, plus I love looking at the quilt on the bed. And the kitchen needs to be in order as you walk through the kitchen when you enter my house in order to get to the rest of the house. Thirdly, then I don't feel so guilty! Love it BJ!
I just loved it, BJ! Things sure have changed. I'm with Sandy....life is too short not to enjoy the things that give us our creative outlet. I have to admit that I do like to have the bed made and kitchen put in order before I devote my day to sewing.
Comment by Sandy Todd on June 30, 2012 at 9:58pm That's a riot B.J.! My hubby is always telling me, "just let the housework go babe, go enjoy your sewing". I'm sooo blessed! I keep a nice home, but have relaxed tremendously over the last few years. Life's to dang short to set aside what makes you happier than a spotless house and clean dishes. I'm with Trevi...that's about the same time I quit putting on makeup too...only wear it for special things like weddings or if we go out to eat where there's tablecloths on the tables. It's good to let your pores breathe.
Comment by Jennie Steward on June 30, 2012 at 6:31pm Oh my how things have changed!!!!
Comment by Trevi in Texas on June 30, 2012 at 4:10pm I quit wearing makeup during the big M as it would usually melt off my face during a hot flash. If anyone of my family or friends comes by without calling first, there's no telling what they will find in my sink. I refer to my sewing room as "my room" and my bedroom is just the place where I sleep and get dressed. I'm certainly sure that the advice from the past was written by a man and they aren't known for thinking before speaking.
Comment by Laurie on June 30, 2012 at 2:31pm I'm sure if I had followed that advice I would have never got any sewing done.... we all know there is always housework of some kind to do. Sewing and quilting was my escape from chores. I quit putting on makeup when I started driving a truck because it isn't very convenient to put it on or take it off.
