Just in Time for Easter, by Beverly Hicks Burch

Happy Easter everyone!

Easter has always been a special and blessed time for my family as we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ. It also seems to carry with it the "official" beginning of Spring.

In the South the dogwoods seem to always "bloom" at Easter, but one of my other favorites splashes wonderful color across the landscape at this time and that would be the azaleas.

The ones around the deck finally bloomed...they are the large blossom azaleas which I absolutely adore. The big trumpet shaped blooms are also excellent food source for early arriving hummingbirds.

Who or what could pass up these tempting blossoms?

Nothing is quite a spectacular as God's creation! I love the birds. We need to fill our feeders this weekend and then we'll be blessed with flocks of little critters with their coats of many colors :) It's one of my favorite times of the year!

Your azaleas are beautiful. My son and dil have a birdhouse my husband built them and they nailed it to their deck. Every year since they put it out there (at least 5 years) bluebirds have nested there. They always, ALWAYS, show up on Easter. Not one day before or after. Always Easter. I went to their house today for Easter dinner after church and went back to look at the grave where my son buried his beloved beagle Friday and Drew said look Granny the bluebirds came back today and there they were. One was up in the tree looking at us. How do they know? It has to be a blessing of God for them on Easter. It never comes on the same day every year but that is the day they return. Amazing how God works, His beauty is all around us. In your azaleas and in the return of the bluebirds!! Blessings, Linda

ahh, I love your perfect azalea, what a beauty. Your area there in Agusta must be in full bloom as we always watch the golf, hubby watches golf I watch the beautiful gardens. We don't do rodies here in Ca. very well.
Just returned from easter services and was given a mumm plant. Will enjoy the color it brings to our kitchen.
Everyone have a Blessed Easter. Wilma
