Quilt With Us

So the last day of my vacation started out with messaging between daughter and I.  She came over to use computer and then wanted to go shopping.  Why did I have to go along???  She is after all 26.  I think she's 26.  I don't keep track of my own age, so don't expect me to remember hers.  She's old enough to shop by herself!!  I know, I know, quality time with dd.  She hit about six different stores in four hours time and decided that we had spent enough time together and brought me home.  I no sooner sit down and get a pot of coffee made and mom calls to tell me she is having diner at her house for her birthday.  Her birthday was on thursday but waited until today for diner and cake.  Off I go to mom's house.  I fully expect the phone will ring sometime before I get done with the post here and someone else will want my time.  It's a good thing I go back to  work tomorrow!  I did manage to get the other half back out on the road the other day after being home for two weeks.  Don't get me wrong, I was glad to see him and glad to see him get back to work!

As for my quilts, hummm they have suffered this week I'm afraid.  The one that I put on the LA is still waiting for me.  I did get one row finished but I'm not at all happy about the way it turned out. I haven't worked on any new quilts this week as the other half had his laptop on the table where I sit to do my sewing.  I now have my sewing back on the table and was hoping to get some sewing done today  but I find I'm running out of energy for that while trying to get cleaning and such done before I start work again.  I do have another vacation week coming later in the year and hopefully that will be a little more productive.

Note to self:  Don't tell anyone when I'm on vacation next!

You're so right about your "vacation" time.  I always think I will get so many things done and then, things just happen.

Same thing happens to all of us. I have taken a day off work before and not told anyone then I feel quilty. The moral of the story enjoy your family. I have 10 grandkids around me and very seldom get time to my self. I have done something every weekend this summer. Our new Joann's opens Sept 11th. so my daughter and I will plan that weekend, so my sewing has suffered this summer badly. And I have a new Pfaff that I have hardly sewn on and had it since June. But fall and winter will be here before we know it and then we can hibernate.

Hey learn from this, holidays are for you mostly unless you have made holiday  " plans " ,. You made me laugh thanks, but keep the other week a secret.

                                                                                  hugs to you

So funny about your daughter...they are all alike!!!  My son and his fiancee are visiting this weekend finalizing wedding plans.  Last night on the way home from dinner my husband and I received a call from him asking 'what are we doing about dinner'!  Okay, it's 8:30pm...we ate already...and you are 39 years old!  They weren't home when we left for dinner so at 6:30pm so you would think they must be out by themselves?!?!  Well she was at her bachelorette party and he was - oh, lost I guess!!!

Sorry about your vacation...mine will be spent getting the house ready for wedding guests!

I am so glad I'm retired. It used to be the same way with me when I was working.  I didn't dare breath a word about having a vacation or day off, unless I was headed out of town for the entire time.  And have you ever noticed that when you have a lot to do, is when the phone rings off the hook all day long and people come to visit you haven't seen in ages?  I hope you get some quality time with your sewing machine.  It's a nice way to relax.

Sorry you didn't get the quilting time in you had hoped, and that that which you did do didn't turn out right. Some times it just goes that way.  I find that anytime I vacation "at home" too many distractions and interruptions happen. Maybe your next week off you can take your machine to a hotel and hide away and sew... doesn't work for the LA, but it is an idea.
