Hello all!
These are some things I've been working on. I'm shopping my stash and using only what I have on hand.
A little cowboy quilt top with the sheriff's badges for a baby whose grandpa was a long-time sheriff.
A little knitted baby sweater - trying to learn new things. It still needs buttons and blocked.
Another baby quilt - a disappearing 4-patch:

Thanks, Pam. I'm trying to manage my time a little bit better than I have in the past couple of years. Three more baby quilts to go before the year end. I put the binding on the sheriff's quilt today. I'm taking Mom to a nearby heart facility for a stress test. They said to plan on all day, so I'm taking a "busy bag" with me along with my Kindle. I don't mind waiting if I have something to do.
The oldest grandson helped me bake cookies this afternoon. So fun!
You certainly nailed the sheriff quilt...they will love the thoughtfulness behind it. Love the colors in the disappearing patch. perfect for a baby quilt. I made a sweater 43 years ago the same color for Erich to come home from the hospital in. My one and only! As busy as life on the ranch is in the Spring, you've been busy!!!
Thanks, Barb. You can do it! I started out making dish cloths as well. It's been fun to learn new techniques.
Love the baby quilts! I just finished one, and then found out there is another little one on the way, so I'll need to do another. The little sheriff's quilt is adorable, and that disappearing 4 patch is always a winner. The little sweater is so sweet! I would love to be able to do more than knit dish clothes and scarves :-)
THanks, handstitcher. The baby quilts come together quickly once I decide what to do. My big hangup is machine quilting, but if I want them finished, it must be done. I'm hoping that the more I do, the better I'll get at it. It is always so disappointing to have a nicely pieced top ruined by my poor machine quilting.
The disappearing 4-patch is evidence of that. So in order to compensate or try to hide poor quilting, I washed it in hot water to shrink the batting and fabric. It gives it that much-loved, puckered look that I do like.
As they say, "that's my story..." :)
Wow! You have been busy! Love the two baby quilts, especially with the meaning behind the sheriff's quilt. I'm impressed with your knitting. I never got the hang of it. DD knits and I've told her that she'll never go wrong with baby sweaters as a shower gift!
Thanks Sharon. Just finishing up the machine quilting on the top quilt. Ready to bind and send it to its new home.
Busy lady and making the best with the scraps that you have, with exceptions to the store for the one piece of fabric that you need. I, too, love going through my scraps to make baby quilts. I really like the disappearing 4 patch. I've made the 9 disappearing patch several times, but seeing your 4 patch, guess I'll try my hand at this one. They turned out great. I don't knit anymore, but your sweater is so pretty and some lucky baby will get this one.
Thanks, Barbara. What's new in your part of the world? Seems we went from winter to summer. Apparently we're skipping spring this year...
You have been busy. I love them all.
