Perhaps someone will read this and help? Connecting Threads recently had their catalog come out and one of the new patterns was called Checkerboard Stars and was a pattern for a 100x100 quilt. I went to order it and naturally, they were sold out. ARGH!!! I asked to buy the pattern and it is not available. I asked if it would be made available and was told it probably won't.
What gives CT!? This was obviously a popular pattern and you only just introduced the fabrics that are used in it. Within 4 days no one can get anymore. Atleast make the pattern available!
So, my continued frustration with CT for not having enough of what they advertise grows. Does anyone have this pattern and would you be willing to share it?
Sorry CT, no infringement meant on my part but I LOVE LOVE LOVE this pattern and it was going to be for my bedroom. I've been looking for the perfect pattern (and colors) for my room and this was it. "Was" being the key phrase here. LOL!!
Anyone here one of the lucky ones who purchased this and have the pattern and would like to share? :) Pretty please? Anyone....?

Comment by Kentucky Kwilter on March 12, 2013 at 6:35pm This is great news about the Checkerboard Stars Pattern! I, too, thought this was one of CT's best catalogs in a while. Thank you 3boykinsmommy for asking about this quilt in your blog. I've never posted on any website before, but I felt so strongly about this quilt that I just had to chime in.
Exactly! Hmmm...teal in the bedroom...I need to paint my bedroom...you are giving me inspiration! :) I love a blue/green color, it's the perfect blend of two favorite colors. Happy and yet subdued, not overpowering, restful but not blah.
I'm going to join you in having a faster trigger finger for ordering...I still love CT too. Can't beat their prices and their Customer Service is mostly the best! Other than the one agent I got that one time, I have had nothing but great experiences with CT and they really will bend over backwards to try and make your order right if at all possible. I think they try really hard to be better than the average company out there...trying to give us price, quality and service and treating us like we're important and not just a number. I guess they just can't get large enough inventories to always cover the demand. That's good, means they are growing in popularity. I'm sure it's a fine line between what they are or becoming like other companies that are just too big and too expensive.
I'm just not going to hesitate next time.....if I see it and it's perfect, just going to order it and be done with it. :)
Comment by Nancy Alberts on March 12, 2013 at 12:47pm It wasn't the pattern as much as I liked how it was displayed in the picture using all of the fabrics in that line. I usually buy from the clearance stock but I was really drawn to that quilt and the fabric. So much so that I painted my bedroom that teal color that is in the picture and it turned out beautiful. I wanted that brown floral to make cutains. Oh well, I still love CT fabric, you can't beat the price for good quality fabric. I will just be faster next time I see something that really catches my eye. :)
I just heard from CT Admin! They are going to make the Checkerboard Stars pattern available later this week for everyone! YAY!!! I know I won't hesitate in placing my order for it this time that's for sure! Now to get those fabrics in the Neutral Love back.....
Michelle, maybe it will show up under an images search? I know the one you are talking about but I don't remember the name either. I know I liked it too...it was very pretty and oh so Autumn. I'm sorry you couldn't get it. :( I am thinking that maybe a good direction for CT to go in would be to always make the patterns available either as a freebie or pay depending. Even if you can't get the fabrics in the original offering, it's nice to have the pattern and use your own fabrics.
Try asking one of the Admins. It's one of the CT staff that designs them so I'm sure they don't just throw them away...enough demand and sometimes they can bring it back.
I'm thinking we need a group on here to either share patterns that aren't available or help in the search for them. Even to lobby CT to bring them back! :)
Comment by Michelle K on March 11, 2013 at 11:57am I am sorry I do not have it, but I had a pattern from not this fall but fall before that I wanted to order a few months after it came out and I couldn't find it anywhere nor anything like it. IT was a maple leafe but had curved stems..... there is one out there like that but it is not the one that CT put out and I really liked it. I can't even remember how the layout went, but I know I loved it. :-( So sorry I can't help
Wow, Handstitcher! Making my own pattern would be great but I'm not sure I'm there yet. Then again, you are on to something. I could figure out the pattern and sizes but I am not good at figuring out how much yardage of each that I would need. That I'm just not so saavy with. :( Maybe I'll get there someday....sorry you lost out on your pattern too. I hope someone from CT reads this and can do something about it. I know I'll stay a customer and I'll have to get my orders in right away in the future....still, it would be nice for when some months are a little leaner and I need to wait a week or two before I can order.
Help us CT!!! ;) We want to buy from you!!!
I agree about CT needing to stock more fabric or at least be able to get more of the ones that sell out quickly. I wanted the Wildflowers fabric in the brown shades from their Neutral Love, but it sold out immediately. I bought some sampler packs, but will look for other fabrics at my LQS for borders and backing.
I'm not familiar with the pattern you are seeking, but is it something you could draft yourself? When a kit I wanted sold out before I could purchase it, I drafted my own pattern.
Nancy,
I noticed that the Neutral Love fabric sold out really fast. Most of the fabric in the Checkerboard Stars was from that collection too and it was gone when the kit sold out. I think what makes me upset is that they go to all the trouble of advertising it, getting us all excited and then, you can't get it. Why advertise if you only have a limited supply? Granted, they'll get the lucky few who order in the first 72 hrs but then where does that leave the rest of us? I will tell you....shopping elsewhere. I love CT, have for the past 4-5 years but I'm tired of the lack of inventory. Then again, where do I go? Keepsake Quilting is fabulous but out of my budget. :(
Comment by Nancy Alberts on March 8, 2013 at 7:55am I wanted to add my words of frustration as well - though it is about the Arbor Window Quilt kit. That one is also not available, I can't find it anywhere on the website and the fabric 5662 in neutral love is gone too. :(
My Ol' Kentucky friend, (sorry, couldn't resist!) yup, you and I are floating in the same boat. I am trying so hard to not be annoyed but, I am. Gotta admit it. I had the same experience as you, talked to one phone order gal and she was very nice spoke to customer service and was treated a bit rude. The rep actually told me to just pick something else! Can you believe that?! Anway, I still love CT and keep hoping the will expand and offer more kits and more consistant amounts of those items. This last catalog was the best I've seen in a long time from them. Hopefully they are listening and I believe they are. I think they really care about their customers and want us to be happy. Most of my dealings with them have been fantastic and I couldn't say enough good things about their customer service. If I hear anything, I will let you know!
