Looks like Marnie's fabric swap is full. I would be interested in organizing a fat quarter swap for batiks. I LOVE batiks.

We could do for 12 people. This means you buy 3(or a little more) yards of a batik, cut it into 12 fatquarters (please make sure that they are 18x22 mininmum).

I will send everyone the addresses of the other 11 participants. You send 11 and keep one for yourself. You will receive 11 different fat quarters in the mail. Who thought that usps and Canada post could be so much fun.

So if you want to participate, send your address details to me at my regular e-mail which is
jjandarh@hotmail.com.

I will send the updated address list once I have 12. After 12 I will be sending "regrets, we are full" notices!

If this works o.k. and everyone plays by the "rules", we can do it again and again and..................
"Rules" are;
Must be a full fat quarter
Must be a good quality fabric, please no "look-alike" prints.
Think that's it.!

Tip~if you lay the fat quarter out flat in a manilla envelope it will go for letter rate. If you fold it up small, it will go as parcel post(more money!).

It will be the very end of September before you get the list (I am going away to the UK next week), so don't panic if you don't hear from me! Go buy fabric!! and send me your address so I can get the list started!!

Hi,
Well there was very little interest for this, so maybe after Christmas we could try it if anyone wants.

Maybe I should edit. I just realized we have girls from all over the universe on this site! Maybe for this swap, we will limit it to US and Canada. Sorry girls, maybe an international swap next time around!

Hi,
Yes, you would buy three yards+, that way you are cutting enough fat quarters to send to everyone including yourself.
With regards to wash, I wash mine, but Batiks are not supposed to shrink like regular printed fabrics, most girls in my guild say they don't wash the Batiks.
Also if they all send to me and then I re-distribute that is twice the postage, (unless you know a way around that??). I am certainly willing to do that, if "everyone" will send stamped self-addressed envelope.
If anyone is interested in doing this swap, let me know!

swapping batiks you might want to consider 'everyone' washing those before cutting them.
this allows for the shrinkage before cutting (they can vary in % in different fabrics) and also eliminates bleeding later.
have you thought about doing a central swap rather than sending one to each person. central swap all to one person for swapping around eliminates the possibility of folks not sending and not telling anyone they're dropping out for whatever reason, this happens all too often. at least if it is central and someone drops out (fabric doesnt arrive) then you can fiddle the FQs so everyone will get some returned in lots of two. just somethings to consider.
