I hope everyone is keeping cool and I sure am very thankful for a/c not sure I'd be able to make it otherwise. Anyway I wanted to share with you all my latest finished project, I made a 44"x56" quilt for a special little girls first brithday and with my left overs I though why not make Ella her dolly a quilt to match. I was not able to make the backs and bindings match ran out of fabrics but I think she's just going to love them anyway, I really like my labels too bad I forgot the date. I hope they inspire you to use your scraps to make a special little one a gift she'll cheerish and love.

Comment by Sheila M/FL on July 21, 2012 at 6:35pm Thanks everyone I am glad I shared these as I know feel great about giving them away and it is wonderful to read your stories as well. I think that this will be my new trend to make matching quilts when I make girl ones. Now to come up with something just as special for little boys.
Comment by AidaCJ/NH on July 20, 2012 at 11:54am Lovely! It's a great idea, Ella and her doll having matching quilts.
Love it love it love it!!! I think it is fantastic just as it is!! She will adore these forever!! Great job and so thoughtful!!
Comment by Irene Gallway on July 20, 2012 at 5:55am Oh, yes, great idea to use your scraps for her doll. I would have LOVED that when I was a kid. I made a Daisey Kingdom dress for my GD Ahsley and her doll that matched. She thought it was pretty cool.
Comment by Prairie Quilter/NE on July 20, 2012 at 5:13am Perfect idea. Cute, cute quilts! I sound like a broken record after reading the other comments, but I agree that she will love having a matching quilt for her dolly.
Comment by Terry F on July 20, 2012 at 2:31am What a fantastic idea, to make one for dolly too! She is going to L-O-V-E them!!!
Comment by Di Roberts on July 19, 2012 at 7:02pm I made a doll quilt for a cousin's granddaughter and her name was Ella also. Now I'm thinking I should make a few more doll quilts to give away.
Comment by Barb/WI on July 19, 2012 at 6:26pm Adorable! I've been thinking I need to get a special doll that "lives" at Grandma's house, and make her a special quilt, too. You've inspired me to get going on it!
Comment by Carol Vickers/OH on July 19, 2012 at 4:00pm How cute! She will love them! I have a picture of a doll quilt buried somewhere in the pictures on my page (somewhere around page 6 I think). My brother made the cradle for my dolls in high school shop class (he is 13 years older than me). My daughter played with it and then it went to granddaughter Abby. We had it stripped to get rid of lead paint and we repainted it -- funny no one knew to worry about that years ago. I made a new mattress and quilt and we still had my daughter's doll so there are lots of sentimental memories in that. Hubby also made her a set of bunk beds for her "American Girl type dolls" and they got quilts too - pic on page 2. Alll were well received as I'm sure yours will be. Love your labels!!!!
Comment by Amanda Best on July 19, 2012 at 2:18pm They are both so fun and cheerful, Sheila! You are a very productive quilter, I see you finishing things all the time, that is wonderful!
