Quilt With Us

Welcome to May.  Since I can't secretly place flowers on each of your doorsteps, I will have to settle for this;

I will need to get a better finished picture of my yard banner later today.  It is already hanging (sort of) out front.

The markings on it are to center the design, which did not do well.  For some reason it is off center by about a quarter inch.  The markings will come out with a bit of water.

If you have read the main blog here, you will see that about 15 miles west of me, there was a horrible batch of tornadoes go through Canton, Texas.  I finished my banner Saturday afternoon and hung it outside before the storms came through.  Here in Van, we had heavy rain and very high winds, but no tornado.  Praise the Lord.  We are still recovering from our own tornado of 2 years ago on Mother's Day.  That anniversary is 10 days away.  In the Van tornado, we ourselves, were not hit, though we had a lot of debris in our yard.  It hit homes about half a block away from us.

One saving grace in the storms on Saturday, was that none of the tornadoes went into the town proper.  Canton is the county seat and it is a historical town.  There would have been so much history ruined.  There were at least 3 tornadoes go near Canton, 1 on the west side and 2 on the east side.   They are still assessing the damage.

So please pray for all those affected by the storms.  There were at least 5 towns hit with the tornadoes.  4 lives taken away too soon, and 49 injured.  I am not sure if that count is just for Canton or if they are from all the tornado paths.

On a lighter note, our son Darren had me download Skype to my phone so we could 'face time' with he and Daniel.  That was fun.  We did this during the tense time of the tornadoes.  It helped ease the tension here, for sure.  Darren was following the weather from Plano Texas.  Dallas stations were airing the tornado paths.  So Darren wanted to make sure his parents were ok.  We have such loving and caring children.

May everyone have a Spirit Led week.  Be sure to reach out to family and friends this week and let them know what they mean to you.

Beautiful embroidery, Carol. Love yellow roses (but so do the deer).

I love yellow roses!  Glad you are safe.  We had a short spring blizzard on Sunday - 8 1/2 inches of snow that came down sideways.  It was intense while it lasted, but short lived.  The snow was mostly melted by mid-afternoon yesterday (Monday).  We were out of power from 7 p.m. to 11 a.m. and were reminded that we take a LOT of things for granted when it comes to electricity.  :)

We're having a baby shower for my daughter-in-law this weekend.  I'm working on a short devotional for it.

Blessings!

Happy May Day, we have heavy rains all day, but there is always a blessing, our grass is greening up after the winter. Already have had first cut.
Lovely embroidery Carol.

You got it!  I was not going to say anything to see if anyone noticed.
