Quilt With Us

I just wanted to stop in and say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I've been reading posts and messages, but haven't had much time to sit down lately and reply. Seems like I'm the only one NOT making any Christmas gifts this year.  We had a new granddaughter born four days ago, (our third granddaughter, 8th grandchild) and were busy taking care of her big brothers, plus a lot of other things.  I had my first chance to Christmas shop today, and I'm not done! I don't like putting it off so long, but I didn't have a choice this year.  I have a feeling gift cards may be the 'gift of choice' for a couple of our kids and their spouses since I've pretty much run out of time.

Let's see, it was a busy year for us in many ways, and a good year.  We are slowly getting back on our feet again, had three new granddaughters born within the last two months and one more granddaughter is on the way any day now!  My quilting business increased quite a bit and DH has had some pretty good freelance work.  We do like our (temporary) new place, but we're running out of room quickly with all the little ones around! So I suspect this next year will have us seeking out a new home once again.  At least it won't be under such sad circumstances this time!

This is the first year in several years where there weren't a lot of sad or stressful things going on, it feels good to be on the upswing again.  I'm anxious to spend some time in my sewing room again, but that could be a while for me with Christmas celebrations with our children and their families and my family, and another baby due soon that we will be taking care of two more little boys when Mommy and Daddy go to the hospital to have their little sister.  And one of the first things I have to do is complete three quilt jobs that just came in.  I cut out a winter coat for myself and started to sew it, but then I had to stop when our little Ellie came on Saturday!  I have barely been home since, as a matter of fact, I am writing this as another grandson and granddaughter are asleep and I'm watching them while Mommy and Daddy finish their Christmas shopping!

I've enjoyed reading about all of the wonderful gifts you've made for friends and family!  It's inspiring, and gives me something to consider doing for next Christmas!

May you all be blessed with a wonderful 2012!! Glad to hear that many of you who were struggling with health and financial issues seem to be doing so much better this year!  Keep posting so I can keep track of you!

Trudy, I'm so happy to see that you are doing much better this year.  Congratulations on all the new babies.  It sounds like us in 1999 when we had 3 grandies born within 6 weeks.  It is great for cousins to be able to grow up together too.  Maybe 2012 be even better!

A busy time of year, with all the grandaughters coming, makes a wonderful way to end the year. Seems like I'm always behind, but by Christmas, I'm caught up and ready. Take each day and be thankful that all is well again. May you have a good year.    MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Merry Christmas Trudy, and thanks for catching us up on all the wonderful news.  Babies are a blessing so you have been blessed in grand style this year.  It reminds me of when my sisters and sister-in-law and myself were having our babies all at the same time.  The cousins had a grand time growing up together.

Trudy, you are not alone.  I haven't made Christmas gifts this year either.  I'm working on DD's DWR wedding quilt.  I do enjoy seeing all the gift projects everyone has made, though!

Merry Christmas to you and your family too.  Sounds like my brothers family.  Four grand babies in 1 week.  Triplets to a daughter and a girl to their son.  At least life is excited and cuddlely.

You have so many "little" blessings, congratulations!  It's nice to hear that all is well.
