Don't you just hate it when you KNOW right where you put something, but when you go to retrieve it, it isn't there?

About a year ago, we had a large amount of hard rain in a short amount of time, which caused flash flooding.  While our house sat above the floodwaters, we had seepage in the basement.  This, in turn, resulted in major cleaning, purging, reorganizing, etc.  You would think that would be a good thing, right?  Except for one thing...

I know I put everything in a "logical" place at the time, but apparently my  memory is failing me.  The crazy thing is - this is not a large house by any means, so there aren't too many places where stuff can be stored!

On the positive side, I recently found an item of DS's that had been missing since the "great reorganization"!  I thought I'd looked everywhere - three times!  Maybe he had it all along and is just messing with me.  :)

That's my rant for the day.  On with the search...

Definitely not alone. Just this week I have lost, "in plain sight", my garden gloves, my reading glasses and like Roxann said, they were where I knew they were but didn't see them at the time. Egads.

Reminds me of a science fiction story; everything is "Someplace" and the hero (and his cat) wound up in "Someplace" looking for a lost sock.  They had to go through a mountain of lost socks--only one of a pair, of course.  Did you try looking in your husband's sock drawer--that's where I found my lost sock.  I know you weren't looking for a sock, but the principle is the same--look in your husband's stuff.  No, I have no idea how it might have got there.

You are so not alone. I do this all the time. So frustrating!! And what's even more frustrating is I usually find it exactly where I thought it was and already looked 4 times. How does that happen?!?!?

Joan, Jeff Foxworthy has that same joke. :)

My DH has a dumb joke about this.  You always find it in the last place you look.

I know exactly what you mean.  My LA has been moved half a dozen times and always while I'm at work. Everything that was stored in and around it or near it, also moved.  Was I asked?  Oh course not.  Do I know where everything is.  Of course not.  Does the other half know where it is. Of course not, he has no idea what I'm trying to describe to him to begin with, but I am sure he moved it somewhere

I always pray. God knows where everything is. Things have turned up in the oddest of places, sometimes in plain sight where I  have looked many times before. It's like an angel was sent to get it, wherever it was, and then put it in plain sight where I would be sure to find it. DH went to the doctor's office for a test. Had to take his watch off for the procedure. Forgot to put it back on. Went back the next day, called the day after. They could not find it. So he bought a new one. (Both were very inexpensive.) A week later the watch he had left at the doctor's turned up on our bathroom counter. I'm not making this up. This has happened to me several times over the years. Just sayin'.

You are definitely not alone!  It happens all too often here, then I obsess until I find what I'd misplaced, wasting so much time.  So glad you've found what you need.

Success!  The lost have been found - finally!  So relieved.  Glad to know I'm not alone.

I hear ya. This morning I was making adult bibs for a client.  She brought an old one for me to get the pattern from.  I cut out my pattern on interfacing.  I hunted quite awhile before I found it. I had set something on top of it.  And then I was looking for my wrist pin cushion and have yet to find that. So,your not alone.
