Quilt With Us

Yesterday I was given the news that my brother's son's had met with a tragic accident on a construction job site. They had been electrocuted and feel 3 stories off a ladder. The electricity had passed through one brother into the other and literally BLEW them off the ladder and out of their shoes. The oldest had been declared brain dead late yesterday afternoon and disconnected from life support and the other has no memory of the event. To top things off, I was also notified that my father, who is in the end stages of Alzheimer's could pass at any time.

Needless to say when I went to bed last night, I did not sleep and really didn't want to attend a sew-in with my once a month group. I went on the insistence of my DH who said I needed the diversion while waiting for the call to say that my nephew had passed. So I went but did not stay long. Did I mention I had forgotten to take along my phone! So untypical of me.

Well, when I got home there was a message on my phone to call my brother. I figured it was to tell me that Brandon had passed. Boy did I get a wonderful surprise. It appears that sometime during the wee hours of the morning Brandon started registering brain activity again, his pupils are not reacting to light AND he is struggling to breathe on his own. The doctor's have said it is nothing short of a miracle; however, he is NOT out of the woods as yet and will have a long road to recovery. There is not guarantee that he will not have suffered some brain damage, only time will tell. He has severe burns all over his body and his younger brother not only has severe burns all over his legs and feet but has absolutely NO memory of the event. Some things are best NOT remembered, I guess.

Thanks to all who have said prayers for my nephews and their family. Please keep the prayer chain going as they both of a long road to recovery. In the meantime, the police are investigating as are governmental authorities, into not only the accident but the person who hired them. The ENTIRE crew was being paid under the table to do the job so the company didn't have to pay worker's comp, health insurance, etc.

Terri at the Drake's Nest glad that when God answers prayers, sometimes the answer is yes!

There is a lot going on in your life right now Terri but as you know you are not alone and neither are your nephews.  God is a God of miracles and I will believe you for a miracle for Brandon and his brother.  Accidents happen there is no way around bad things sometimes but God, prayer and family and friends will help see us through.  I pray also for your Dad that when he passes God will be with all of you and you all will share in the sweet memories and celebrate your dad's life.  God Bless You!!

Terri, What a difficult time this must be for your family.  I hope your nephews continue to improve and heal, and I'll be thinking of you concerning your dad.
