Quilt With Us

I went on my very first quilt retreat last weekend and it was sooo much fun! There were seven of us girls, six of us traveled from around here and the seventh came from the Seattle area to meet us. We ate, we drank, we danced, we quilted, and we were most definitely merry! I even baked! Don't tell my husband though, he doesn't realize I know how to use the appliances and I'd like to keep it that way!

Fueled by coffee and chocolate I was able to make a cute little runner from the Fast & Furious Home book. It was the perfect project to use my Birchtree Lane charm pack on and I love it! All I have left to do is bind it and I've been working on that during meetings so I should be done in no time.

I also worked on a small wall hanging using the Primitive Pinwheel template, it has a pattern included with the tool that’s really cute. It was scary at first to cut into perfectly good, sewn together squares but once I did and then sewed them back together it was like magic. Adorable! I can’t wait to make the Itty Bitty Pinwheel project next!

I started on a few more projects including one from the book English Paper Piecing called Dresden Delight. Those go back on the UFO pile; there is the possibility they could be return guests at the next retreat!

When we weren’t quilting we were checking out the other big event in the town we were in which was a hot rod show. They had some pretty amazing cars! We also had some great background sound as they played 50’s, 60’s and 70’s music all day right outside our door. That’s why there was so much dancing included in our weekend. The weather was beautiful and we had a great view of Mt. Rainier.

We also had a sock exchange and I ended up with a pair that said “Boss Lady” which were pretty appropriate – especially if I embroidered a Y at the end of Boss.

I laughed so much I spent most of the weekend in tears! It was an amazing time spent with amazing ladies and I can’t wait to do it again!

What a fabulous time you had!  I go to retreats twice a year and love it.  I'm guessing my cousin had a car in the show as he is very involved with his car club; he lives in Kent, Wa which is in Seattle vicinity.  His last name happens to be Kent.

WOW, what a weekend. You had it all including a great view and entertainment outside with music.  I love the table runner and wall hanging.  Very cute.  Oh, yes, the socks.  Where on earth did everyone find such funny socks to exchange.  Great idea and soooo funny.

Love the socks! Careful, retreats are SOOO addicting--they must be related to quilting and chocolate.

I can almost feel my lower lip starting to form a full blown pout!  I am so envious of you and everyone else at that retreat!  Just kidding, I guess, I should say I am just so happy that all of you had the opportunity, and enjoyed every minute (and every bite) that a quilting retreat has to offer.  Your projects look wonderful, too!
