Quilt With Us

The tenants that rented my house for 6 month have left.  Leaving behind two months unpaid rent and leaving the house and yard in the worst mess you can ever imagine.  Plugged toilet, ( I poured a half gal. of liquid plummer down it and left it for two days.  I had to do a lot of plunging but it gave way after awhile) and trash in every room.  I have been over there all week cleaning and bagging up trash.  I have to have a dumpster to hold it all.  But behind every dark cloud is a silver lining.  A friend of mine has a daughter who wants to rent it.  She has the money to pay and I have been in her house and it was spotless.  She loves old houses and wants to buy it.  I'm letting her have it really cheap, just to get out from under the burden of mowing the lawns, paying taxes etc.etc.  I know I will never be going back there so why hang onto it for more money.

No word at all from the situation with Bud.

Needless to say I haven't had much time to do any sewing lately but hope to get back in the sewing room soon.

Glad you have decided to sell!  You should spend your time quilting not mowing lawns and house maintenance!  Keep us posted on what your next sewing project will be.

I don't know how people live in filth...so happy you have a buyer that you know will love the place as you did. Hope the closing goes smoothly and you can be done worrying about it.

I am sorry your renter was so awful but thrilled that you have found the perfect owner for the house. Like you, I feel really sorry for the kids...a bad role model impacts young lives forever.

I agree with you girls on taking care of other peoples property. I think these people do a lot of moving.  They stay until they get notices of utilities being shut off and then they move to another State and do it again. I feel sorry for their kids getting ripped out of schools and not being able to establish friendships. And it sends a message to them that it's O.K. to destroy other peoples property.

I sure hope this all works out for you Irene.  My husband & I always treated rentals like we owned them.   That is weird that there has been no resolution on the situation with Bud.  Maybe the woman has decided to drop all of this nonsense.

What a nasty experience!  Sounds like your house will fall into hands that truly will appreciate it.  You really need and deserve some sewing/quilting therapy!7

I like your silver lining better than your poor renters' experience.  I don't understand people who trash other people's property -- I really don't!  Hope all works out with the sale to the new owner.

Happy quiltin'!

Sounds like it will all work out for the best, Irene.  I'm sorry the tenants left it in such poor condition.  I just don't understand that.  We were taught to take care of other folks' property better even than if it were our own.  Hopefully the new owner (your friend's daughter) will be very happy there.
