When I first designed Symphony of Blues I never dreamt it would be as popular as it was. And due to all the love it received, we as a collective at CT thought how great that collection would be updated in a new color palette, and reds instantly came to mind! And so Rhapsody of Reds was born (or re-born depending on how you look at it).
When I was playing around with color, it was very important to have this be bright and cheery and to keep as true to red as possible. The difference with blues and reds, are that blues can have a much greater variety of values and still read blue, but red is trickier, it starts to look pink the lighter you make it, which is not what I wanted. So I kept red and went darker where I needed to, as well as adding black into the mix. It seems people love red & white, but also love it with black. I think all in all it worked out really well and there's a nice color balance.
It's so interesting how different this group feels, not better, not worse...just different. I love that!
I particularly love the following prints....
Cartouche in each color-way!
Porcelain Vines, Harmonics, Striped Glaze, Dainty Reds.
It was especially fun to see what all the designers came up with while designing with this collection. There's such a variety of looks and I just love that!
I love Sue's Floating Stars Quilt! It's just so beautiful, light and refreshing!
I also love Mari's Lacey Diamonds Quilt. It's mixes in such a great balance of all the colors within the collection.
I know we just came out of the holiday season, but I think this collection could work really well for Christmas projects, as well as for Valentine's Day. But the fact that it's not a seasonal specific collection, it really can be enjoyed all year round.
So I hope you love and enjoy this collection as much as I do! And it's very possible we'll have even more iterations of it down the line, so stay tuned:)

Thank you Pam!
Thank you June, yes red and whites are simply beautiful. I'm a big fan of Redwork too!
Love the new reds collection and have already placed an order for 2 or 3; just half yards. I've been collecting red/white pieces to go with some vintage redwork embroidery squares I inherited. Have about 20 or so pieces. I am guessing they were done in 30's or 40's by a friend of my grandmother. I have no way to find out for sure as my grandmother and mother are both deceased. No matter what I know I have a real treasure!

Comment by Amanda Best on January 9, 2013 at 10:21am I loved the Symphony of Blues and was hoping Connecting Threads would reprint it, as I missed out on it the first time, Then Rhapsody in Red came and and I think it might be even more beautiful, it is just stunning! Great job! I love all the patterns and kits you all have some up with. I, like Janet, am trying to see if I can squeeze one more fabric order out of my budget this month.
My new favorite collection from Connecting Threads!
Jenni, I love this fabric collection and I suspect it will be very popular. I hope there is still some left at the end of the month when I have a bit of money to purchase some. As far as I'm concerned one can never have too many red & white quilts or red/white/black quilts!
