Need quilt pattern idea in Kansas

I have not blogged for a very long because I have not done much quilting this winter. I have bought A LOT of fabric for my "quilt store closet" because my favorite quilt shop went out of business. I bought a lot for 75% off. I could not pass it up. Since I babysit my 7 month old grandson while his parents teach at our local high school I don't get to sit at the machine much. I plan to hit it hard during the summer though. I do have some exciting news to share. My youngest daughter & her husband are expecting a baby in October. They are not going to find out the sex of the baby so I will have to make a quilt that is not gender specific. I was wanting some ideas from this group as to what pattern to use. I am taking off babysitting tomorrow so I can sew her a maternity top. Have a great weekend everyone!

Oh a 75% off sale! Now there is a dangerous event. My hubby would probably lock me up. I am a bookkeeper/tax preparer and one of my clients is a quilt shop - how sweet is that? I get cash and bartered products/services on a monthly basis. What a joy - I can take classes, get quilting done for me or go crazy and buy fabric. Every time something new comes in - I have to have some for my "closet store" - (I love that term). My husband is relieved of his duty to buy me fabric and he loves that. Now there are whisperings of the shop going out of business (so many are falling), and my heart is low... I pray for them to prosper, but it is a selfish prayer. But, I too have a beautiful store of my own in my own little room... sometimes I just go feel fabric and look at pictures in my many books. Heavenly!

Congratulations on the new grand! What a joy... will this be another to babysit for? If so, you will need those cute little accessories for your home.. As for a pattern... hmmm... I thought of a Noah's Ark but don't know where a pattern would be. It is an opportunity to be general yet colorful and can last a long time. I am not into baby quilts.. have never made one and don't really care for the idea of starting that... I have a head full of ideas for other things... lol When you have time, you'll sit down and go through books and it will come to you what to do. Enjoy.

Hi, I am doing a disappearing 9-patch for a baby quilt. I think it is working up quickly and easy. Congratulations on the new baby................

Congrats on a new grandbaby.I am not sure of a pattern to suggest.Maybe a baby Bargello, dissapearing 9 patch? both are fairly easy and still look very nice.good luck and please share pics of finished,no matter what you choose.

Congratulations! New baby news is always exciting. I'll be anxious to hear what others suggest for patterns.

Sounds like you were able to take advantage of a good sale, but it is disappointing when your favorite quilt shop goes out of business. :(
