Quilt With Us

I occasionally check out ebay for quilt tops...this popped up for a 6 day bid...so I placed a bid and won! It is an odd size. 94x64. I only have queen beds and like it more to be a coverlet. Thinking I might cut it down to the framed stitching and do some quilt blocks in the same color palette to make it the size I need. Do you think that it would be better to just add borders of the same print but both colors? Am open to suggestion ladies!!!!

It's just a little cross stitch kit I picked up at Hobby Lobby. I will post pictures IF I finish it. LOL. I have been doing a little everyday so there is hope!

Roxann, what kind of needle project is it! Happy to inspire anything!! lol

I will admit it, after you last find I was inspired to drag out my cross stitch! Like I need another project in my life. LOL I am having fun though, but am quickly reminded lots of breaks are required. Woke up in the middle of the night and swore an elephant was sleeping on my hand!

I see a scalloped border. It was the first thing I thought when I saw the frame around the middle. I'm sure whatever you do it will look fabulous!

Good grief, Pam, do these tops have your secret address? Do they show up in your dreams with ordering instructions? I'd go with the blue and green for a border. You could even (I hope I don't get hit by lightning for this) you could cut up the stitched border so your white would be the same and the flowers could be part of some blue and green pillow shams.

Pam, I believe you're missing some pieces for this bead spread. These were popular in the 50's and 60's as kits. There was most likely two more strips that would have completed the same design down both sides as you have across the bottom. Also the ones I have seen have a pillow tuck allowed with a design running across the width of the pillows making it longer as well. It was probably a queen size to begin with and the sides would have added another 20". You might look on line or in a catalog from a needlework company for some ideas.

I'll complicate this a little more for you.  Could you duplicate the embroidery pattern into a border and add it outside of that first border or add it after the outside border that is on there?

Nice colors, Pam!  Should be fun to work with.  I like the insert pieced blocks idea or inserting borders with coordinating fabric.  Are you an applique-er?  It might be fun to applique the borders.  Interesting size.  Should be a fun project and it is nearly finished.  Bonus!

They were very good, Sandy I won't have to do anything but finish it.
