Quilt With Us

Hi everyone.
My name is Nancy and I am new to this site. I have been sewing for many years but only recently called myself a quilter. I have made several flannel comforters this last 6 months and tied them. I pieced a top years ago in a strip quilting class i took back in the nineties. Started quilting it, then set it aside and haven't worked on it since. The pattern is called Burgoyne Surround or Surrounded. I recently made a baby quilt for my new grandson to try my hand at quilting again. Still working on it though. I love to piece the tops but my hand quilting isn't all that great. I love how the hand quilting looks though and when i finish up my baby quilt I want to work on BurgS. Anyways, I love to hear what others are making. I am married and between us we have 5 children, 3 granchildren and one on the way. My husband is a truck driver and I and a nurse. I love to garden and am looking forward to spring because i want to try something new called Lasagna Gardening. I love to cook, travel, read, play with my grandchildren and my two dogs Winston and Dahli. Thats about it.

Hi Nancy. When I frist started quilting I tied mine off as well. I made a flannel quilt about two years ago and decided to tie that one off as well. Laying under that quilt is like sitting by a wood fireplace-it is so toasty warm.
I have my granddaughters quilt cut out and hope to continue working on it next month. I love to make photo quilts for my grandkids because I think they make great heirloom gifts. I have a few other projects on the go. One being a tree skirt that was supposed to have been finished this past Christmas. Oh well, I hope to have it ready for 2009. I only have to quilt it and put the binding on and it`s done. I think I will finish off that one first just because it is so close to being done. Then I will start on the baby quilt.
Today I landed up buying another project to do. This is why I can`t stop working. I need money for this addiction. I work FT as a medical secretary in a MS clinic located in the hospital. I just started here in December. Prior to this I worked in a congestive heart failure clinic for 6 and a half years. It was time for a change and will most likely be my last job before retiring. I`m almost 57 and want to retire at 60. By then I should have plenty of projects to keep me out of trouble. Tell me a about lasagne gardening. I`ve never heard of it. I like to garden, cook, travel, read and spend time with my grandkids as well.
Well, time to start those projects. Have a great tomorrow.

Nancy welcome! I got back into quilting because of my grandson. Now every quilt I make is his according to him! I've made him several though. I'm trying to get everything done in the next couple of months. As soon as it warms up, I'm outside working on my gardens!
