Quilt With Us

I know I don't post often these days, but I wanted to be sure to wish all of you a Happy New Year!  I hope that everyone is doing well and that 2012 is a fantastic year for all of you!

A couple of weeks ago I posted that our 3rd granddaughter (grandchild #8) was born and we were waiting for GD #4 to make her appearance any day.  Adeline Katherine was born on Monday, January 2nd!  All is well and she's just as beautiful as her little cousins!  I guess she wanted a birthday year to herself, so decided she didn't want to share it with her other three girl cousins!  So we should be 'quiet' on the grandbaby front, for a while anyway! (the kids tell me there WILL be more... someday!)

Slowly getting back into the swing of things, checking out postings on here every so often and working on some new resolutions.  Like I had posted on my blog, I noticed that most people's blogs had resolutions about weight loss and completing UFO's. Those are both on my list, but I've added something a little different.  I have had some time to reflect on what I have been missing about my quilting life and realized I need to give up a few things, for now anyway, so I can enjoy quilting again like I used to.  I don't want to get involved in challenges and exchanges unless they are something I really, really, really want to do.  I will no longer be doing our guild newsletter when my position is up for renewal at the end of summer, and most of all, I really want to get back to doing some fun stuff for me.  This is more where the challenges and exchanges come in; I think in recent times I have been feeling a little too much like I 'have to' do them.  I will continue to make family quilts and charity quilts, but I won't pressure myself to make gifts for others.

With that said, I have been noticing that so many of you have been having better times lately, and that makes me feel really good, and always gives me hope!  I'll continue to read posts, and I'll try to post a little more often than every couple of months.  I know you know how it is, it seems like everybody is going through something at one time or another and can't get on here very often!

Happy New Year!

Thank you for all of the congratulations!  I am enjoying them so much, and we are truly blessed to have all of them living nearby.

I do believe 2012 is going to be a year of many blessings for many people!

You know I'm excited about all those new grandbabies!  That alone is plenty enough to keep you busy this year, especially when added to the grandsons you have too!  What joy.

Congrats again! Love the name...you're right about not putting so much pressure on yourself. I have reevaluated several areas of my life and a lot of baggage got thrown out. It's very refreshing!

Congratulations on another new grandbaby Trudy.  I made the same resolution as you this yr.  I have participated in lots of round robins, block exchanges, etc. over the yrs, but this yr I am making a vow to myself to cut waaaaay back on them.  I have 1 starting in the spring I'll participate in, but that will probably be the only 1 this yr.  I have 3 grandies who will be turning 13 this yr so my goal is to give each one of them a new quilt.  One will be made from blocks that were part of an internet exchange about 8 yrs ago so at least I will feel like I accomplished 2 things at the same time with that quilt.  Using up blocks that have been sitting for far too long & having a pretty quilt to donate to one of my dgds.

Trudy, congratulations!!!!!!!!!! You have passed us now on the grandbabies, we have 7 and I believe that is it for us but our 1st gggd was born the day after your grandaughter.  We have much to celebrate my friend.

I understand about your new year resolutions.  The last two years have been about giving myself away.  This year I have several projects I have held off making and Lord willing this will be my year to get them made!!!!  Have fun Trudy with your projects and I will do the same.  Get those baby kisses every chance you can!!!!! Hugs.....
