Quilt With Us

I just did a count of the 'quilts' I made last year.  Thirty five... ranging in size from the small table topper/wall hanging I made for our diningroom table last month up to the nine lap size or larger ones.  Thirteen were charity quilts - and, of the rest, all but five were gifts for family/friends; I kept the five for myself/our home.  The total doesn't count the dozen or so coffee cup/soda can cozies I made nor the 22 miniature stockings for all the gkids and great gkids annual ornaments or the 5 pillowcases that I made to go with the twin size quilts.  It also doesn't count the 4 placemats, 2 potholders, 2 coffee cup cozies and fabric basket that I made for the festival of trees here in town nor the two 'blocks' that I completed in the Mary Lou Hallenbeck class I took back in August.

There are still a couple waiting to be finished, too... one lap size is sandwiched but needs quilting, and a larger lap size that needs to be sandwiched and then quilted.  There's another lap size that is partially quilted - it's been waiting for second color of thread to be purchased, which I did last week.

You'd think that with a count like that, I'd have more space in my sewing room lol... no such luck - not that I'm complaining.  It's just that now I have a long folding table in the livingroom piled chin high with fabrics because there's really no more space in my sewing room closet to store them.  Some of it is fleece scraps which I plan on using to make caps for kids, but most of it is quilting fabrics - I have plans for some of it, but some will have to wait until the 'right time'  whether it be used by me or I pass it on to someone else.  Oh, and there's one UFO project stacked next to the folding table, too.

I am impressed with the amount of work you completed this year. I finished and had quilted about 14 UFO's since retirement, but not even close to completing as much as you have. You are definitely an inspiration. I put my sewing machine away before Thanksgiving and have not had time to begin again. I hope to start up by the end of the month. Good luck with this year's projects and look forward to hearing about your progress. Happy New Year!

LOL Janet.... it's a record for me, but Sharon Reeves did even more than I did this past year.  As for the energy, I wish I had some of it now... I'm struggling to get any sewing done now.

Wow, that's great. Maybe if I stay off the computer, I could get a few more done!

OMG, where do you find the time for all this quilting. Keep up the good work.

Valma - plenty of time to eat and sleep - I just don't do housework  lol.  The guild I belong to purchases the batting and backing for the charity quilts we make and some of the fabric has been given to me by 'fabric fairies'.  I figure the least I can do is give my time to make something for others and it's something I really enjoy - they aren't perfect by any means, but that doesn't seem to lessen the enjoyment the receivers experience when they receive them.

Oh boy! When do you find time to eat and sleep??? How generous you are with your time and fabric.

Sure all appreciated your gifts of quilted articles.

Oh, Sunshine, I have you beat. I made 4 baby quilts for relatives and friend. 1 queen for my sister for Xmas and 2 lap quilts. The number of quilts that I have completed for Project Linus is 48. I brought some home that were sandwiched, some tops and then just the material to make them. It goes so fast when they are already sandwiched, and I don't know if that counts. I'm off to a good start, have completed 8, have 5 tops made and will get backing on Sat. for them I really love doing these small quilts. Now and then, I take a break and make one for me. Happy Quilting and continue on with what you love to do. I will to. Oh, also, I made 5 apons from one of Debbie Snyder's patterns (Happy Apron) and 4 pot holders to match.
