Quilt With Us

It has been quite a while since I participated in an old fashioned quilting bee as I did yesterday. I was invited by a friend to come out to her church's quilting bee (held once a month) I arrived armed with my needles, scissors, thimble and lunch to find them already getting it on the frame. 15 minutes and it was ready to quilt. by 10:30 am the borders were done and ready for the first roll. These ladies are FAST, I had considered myself a fairly decent handquilter, but these octagenarians sure left me in the dust. Some of these ladies had known my mother in law for years, so it was kind of nice to be able to speak of her.
The weather is going to be nice here today, but not so tomorrow so I had better get my errands done. Have a great day people and remember God loves ya and so do I.

I have been going to quilt making at my church; quilts are made for missions overseas, local jail, local center for abused women, families who have lost all to fire, babies born to church members. Most of the supplies are donated i.e. fabric, batting (old blankets, etc), backing (sheets, etc), and yarn to tie as all quilts are tied to save on time. The quilters are all retired but not retired from quilt work. One table layers and pins the quilts, one lady sews them around the edges, a couple tables tie the quilts; the men have even given of their time by making wood supports to raise the tables to comfort levels. We have so much fun working, drinking coffee, and having lunch. There is so much to learn from all these beautiful ladies of whom I am now glad to be a part. God bless them all.

Hi Edith, sounds like you had a wonderful day. What a wonderful opportunity to speak about your mother-in-law. I was able to share about mine about 2 weeks ago with a friend and it felt good. Don't you just love how God tenders our hearts as we get older. He is sooooo Good. Have a great running your errands. I know my God loves me girl, it is always good to hear it from a sister-in-Christ. God loves you too, you are the apple of His eye!!!!! Hugs, Linda
