Quilt With Us

This has been one of those days when I think I should have just stayed in bed.  About 10 days ago we decided to buy a 2017 Kia Sportage.  It is candy apple red so pretty easy to see right?!  Well my husband was sitting in a valet line at University Hospital in Columbia MO waiting to have them park it as the garage was full.  I had to be there for a CT scan on my heart this morning.  This man driving a shuttle bus for a local retirement home decides he can't wait for Larry to be able to move our car up to the next space in line so he decides to try to go around him.  Hit the side of our brand new car that only had 600 miles on it!  We know for sure the entire bumper is going to have to be replaced, plus I ended up having to take my husband to the VA Hospital, which is just across the street, because he ended up with a bad headache & stiff neck.  Typical man - he was not going to go see a dr, but I insisted.  So a trip we thought was going to take a couple of hrs at best took almost the entire day!

I guess I belong to your Red Car Club ladies...today I joined the Club!..I just got my Honda Accord ..bought and paid for by my daughter..lease!..I was at the Shell backing up and the wheel and the tire separated..scary! Brand new! ..had it 2 months...I think I am ready to go back an drive my old big boat...never a problem..they said at 2 tire stores it was a defective tire but I had to preach to the dealer that I wanted a new tire and I had done nothing to cause this!..the problem was caused by a heat ring!..all that to just get it fixed!...Men!

My sympathy for the new car.  If it makes everyone feel better, I've been hit 8 different times. None of them my fault, unless of course you consider that these were all when I was driving Honda Accord or Civic except for the first accident and that was in a red Toyota 4runner. Hummm there's a pattern here. Wait, shoot I have another Toyota.   Voice of experience here, don't rush to settle with the insurance company.  I have a problem with my throat from the seatbeat locking up in my last accident. Everyone was worried about my neck which I can understand, but now I have to pay my own bill for my throat problems, as I have trouble swallowing foods at times.

I hope the CT scan results were in your favor and your Husband takes it easy. Hidden injuries take time to surface.

Yep, nothing like a bright red car to attract attention, and contact. I parked my brand new red car in a Best Buy lot, far from the other vehicles. While I unbuckled my seat belt I could see a big, big pickup backing toward me. The driver, a man, was talking to his passenger, another man, and they traveled halfway across the parking lot to run into me.

It was a company truck and there was no discussion about who was paying to get it fixed.

Thanks handstitcher.  That is a good point about the CDL.  Worth checking in to that is for sure!

Oh my goodness, Janet! I'm so glad there weren't more serious injuries, but I can imagine that DH is very sore today and maybe you, too. Be persistent with the insurance companies. Many just hope you'll give up trying. I wonder if the driver of the shuttle bus had a valid CDL, a driver's license that allows him to transport people in a bus or shuttle. Many places don't check on that. Hope your own test went smoothly and with good results.

Thanks Barb & Cindy.  Cindy, I agree that some people should just never be behind the wheel of a car!  We are still waiting to hear from the adjuster from their ins co.  The woman from our ins co contacted the nursing home yesterday & they had not contacted their ins co so we suspect they were hoping we would not follow through on a claim.  If we don't hear from Progressive by 10 this morning, we will be on the phone with our ins adjuster again.

Janet, similar thing happened to us. New car (bright red) had it less than two weeks. Had just picked hubby up after surgery. In linecat pharmacy drive up and someone backs out of a parking spot right into the side of us. Couldn't figure out why she couldn't move so hits the gas harder trying to get past the obstacle. No one hurt but a night mare to get my new car repaired. Some people just shouldn't be behind the wheel. Hopefully the repair will go smoothly and hubby feels better fast. Gentle hugs to you.

Arghh!  Hope your husband is feeling better soon, your scan turns out well, and your life gets back on track quickly!

So disappointing.  Imagine the shuttle service should be liable for damages, so hopefully that will help.
