Quilt With Us

I have been working off and on my Over the River quilt for a few years now. I finally finished it and got it back from the long arm quilter last week. I am so excited that it is done in time for me to have for Christmas this year!!!! Now I can start another embroidery project!

Beautiful!  That is one of my dream projects.  I've seen them done in brown like yours, red, and blue.  Don't know what color I would do.

Pam - I used a glass coffee table with a lamp under it to trace it. It didn't come with a transfer. If I thought I was going to make it quickly I would have considered using the Sulky stick on stuff that you can put through your printer and piece it.

Kathy - I LOVE how the long arm quilter quilted it. She used silk thread in the embroidery part where she cross hatched so it wouldn't cover up the stitching. She did a beautiful job.

I have this pattern and kit on my shelf.  one of those "someday I'm going to do this".  I too have always loved this quilt and still do.  I have purchased kits that sat in the closet and eventually wondered why I ever bought it, would loose interest in it.  Not this one though.  I know it has been around for a while and I still find it very exciting every time I see it.  I was very interested in how you had it quilted.  I like the cross hatching on the embroidery panels. Great job and congratulations for finishing it!

Judy, did the pattern come with an iron on of the embroidery part? ...or how did they have you do that?

Absolutely stunning.  I admire how much time must have gone into this.

I've always liked this pattern, too - in all the colorways I've seen it (red, blue & black).  Nice work, Judy!  It's just beautiful!

Way to go!  I have loved that quilt since the first time I laid eyes on it.  I was in a quilt store in Appleton, Wis., and I remember just standing there, admiring that quilt for a very long time.  Time and patience well spent!

Congratulations Judy on getting this done.  It is wonderful.  I really do need to get mine out and get to work on it!

Judy, this is a beautiful quilt. It is different and I like that. I agree with Pam, your blocks and flying geese highlight your wonderful stitching.
