How do you explain to a dog that her favorite playmate is moving?  Our neighbor is moving to another town; funny, but Bianca knows the sound of his car, and around 3:30 she asks to go the door.  Sure enough, 10 minutes later, our neighbor and his dog would come through the back woods, and the dogs would play for 10-15 minutes while us humans talk a bit.

The past few days Bianca would look at me, and go to the door around 3 pm, so I let her out.  She goes to the back yard expecting Bruschi to show up. Alas, no Bruschi and she comes back to the deck with her head hanging low, plops down with a big sigh, and gives me that look that I swear is like she's crying.  Yesterday I saw the 'for sale' sign at their front yard, so I know she'd really be losing her friend.  I can't help but be teary-eyed, too.

I pray for you that a new buddy will move in for Bianca to play with.  We let Freedom go to his new forever home on Saturday and there will not be any other dogs for him to play with. People yes but none of his own kind.  He had 4 others to play with here, I hope he doesn't get too lonely for playmates.  Is there a dog park close by?

There are other dogs in the neighborhood, but they are more of 'nuisance' than friendly.  I'm thinking of bringing Bianca to the doggie day care at least 2x a week so she could get her work out now that Bruschi has left.

That makes me so sad too.  I hope that the new neighbor will be dog friendly too.  Poor Bianca.

Poor Bianca.  I guess we sometimes underestimate our deeply seeded our pets' emotions can be.

It's so hard that you can't explain it to them. My dog had a buddy on the other side of our shared fence. When the other dog passed away unexpectedly, Sadie waited by the fence daily for over a year for her friend. It was so sad. I hope  Bianca makes a new friend soon!

Oh that is so sad!  Hopefully the new neighbors will have a dog that Bianca can get to know and play with.
