Quilt With Us

This morning was not one of my better mornings; there were so many things that were irritating me -- my house is dusty, the refrigerator is nearly empty, I have a huge laundry to do; a sudden electrical outage at an inopportune time shut everything down.  I was also fretting about a coming weekend quilting retreat that I am not ready for, etc. etc.  Then I flipped over the daily calendar page on my desk.  There was a photo of a kitten sitting in a basket of roses, and I thought, "humph"!  Then I read the caption:

"Instead of complaining that the rosebush is full of thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses!"

I'm going to change my perspective for the rest of the day (or perhaps longer).

Have a happy week!

Hope the sun shines for all of us tomorrow, making our outlook just a little bit brighter.

After a few text messages to a friend of mine this morning about my day, I labeled it "craptastic". Everything I touched turned to crap! Funny how you blog about this today, I needed it too! Thanks for sharing and I hope your tomorrow is better than today! :)

I can empathize.  Some days are just like that, aren't they?   Days when I'm just grumpy and those little irritants pile up until it seems like I only have one nerve left and someone or something is stepping on it!  I hope I can be like you and pay attention to those gentle nudges to rethink my attitude.  Sometimes I'm stubborn enough that it takes a proverbial hammer between the eyes, and unfortunately those attention-getters are a lot more painful.

Here's to better days ahead.

Joanna, Well if my cup only has a little bit in it, it better be Bailey's Irish Creme!

The weirdest thing just happened.  I reached up to get a note pad to write this phrase on and it has a picture of a beautiful rose on it.

Carol Ann, this messages could not have come at a better time for me.  Life is very stressful at the moment and I have been finding myself losing sight of the good things in my life.  I'm going to write this up & tape a copy of it to the mirror in the hall bathroom so my daughter can see it as she has a lot to do with the fact that my life is very stressful.
