There has been some talk recently about what kinds of photos should be posted on QWU. Back in May, 2009, Karen posted as moderator that non-quilt photos and posts are officially fine (read that post here). That policy still stands. However, since that time, membership has grown to well over 20,000, and the photos on the site number over 38,000.
When uploading photos to the site, we ask that you consider that these photos will be shown for all to see in the "All Photos" slideshow (some of you may not be aware that all of the photos you upload to Quilt With Us are included). Non-quilting photos are welcome, but please keep in mind the wide audience of these photos, and please limit the non-quilting photos in number.
For those who want their friends to be able to see a series of personal photos, we recommend a photo sharing site (such as Flickr). You can then link to your Flickr photos from your QWU profile or blog posts. This way, the photos only show up where you want them to, not in the general photos slideshow. This post is not meant to single anyone out, but just to let everyone know what the "rule of thumb" is. If you need help linking to a photo sharing account, or with any other aspect of uploading photos, please ask, and we will do our best to help!

Do I understand this correctly? I know that pictures downloaded to our page end up in the main page photos and slide show. I did not know that pictures attached to - say a discussion posting - also did. So all pics downloaded anywhere on CT QWU go to the same group on the main page???????
I really don't think we are being asked to delete any photos.
CT Admin please confirm that you are just asking us to try to limit our personal photos - not to delete or quite posting ????
Sorry if I seem a little thick here but I belong to pincushion and tech4textiles and they are obviously not QUILTS so am I unable to post pics of my projects on there anymore.
I will delete my personal photos too as I wouldn't like to offend anyone.
PS What about our handknitting and embroidery articles, hmmm may as well delete all my photos.
I think what we are being told is to try and limit, not get rid of, or stop altogether.
I really enjoy looking at everyones pictures - of all types. If the number of pictures is becoming a problem now that there are so many members, perhaps QWU should be looking into a way we can post some of our pictures, to our page ONLY.
I love this site (really miss Karen though) and hope it stay available for all of us, I have made a lot of wonderful friends on here and learned a lot from some of you.
Not to worry his picture and 40 of my other ones are now gone. Quilts and all.
Pretty obvious that things are changing at CT these days.
