Quilt With Us

My DH usually gives me a treat on my birthday, but with the temperature in the high 90's, we didn't feel like going out last Monday.  He would have taken me to a favorite seafood restaurant by the coast and would have ordered a lobster for me.  I told him perhaps when the weather is better we can go out.  So I figured - 80+ miles round trip to the coast, and a lobster dinner would have cost us at least $100.  But then, I went shopping this morning to buy the usual week-long staples, and there it was, at the seafood counter: Lobsters - $4.99 a pound!  So,  bought the groceries, and then went up to the counter and asked for 2 lobsters, have them steamed.

I got home and told DH I got my birthday lunch so we didn't have to plan on going to Portsmouth NH...

so here's my dinner - freshly caught and steamed by my favorite grocer

This is my quota of lobster for the year, now I'm content.

There's severe thunderstorm warning for the next few hours, and hopefully we'd get a break in the weather by Saturday.  Still too iffy to plan on a boat trip the isles and the lakes are still too crowded with vacationers from out of state.

Yes, the grocer will steam the lobster, then we pay the meals tax at checkout, it's considered 'prepared'.

YUM YUM!  Love lobster. I didn't realize the grocer could do the steaming of them for you. That's terrific! What a wonderful birthday treat.

Looks yummy.  I love lobster.  I miss my old neighbor who used to set a few traps for regreational purposes.  He always brought us 4 lobsters when he hauled his traps in.
