Quilt With Us

Prayers request for our dear daughter.  Will try to make a long story short.  Last April she was discovered to have a "mass" in the mesentery, tissue that holds the intestines in place to the back of the abdomen (best way I can explain mesentery).  I have never heard of this before even though I am a retired nurse.  "Mass" was found to be benign in 2 places; plan was to "watch" it and do periodic CT scans.  Scan in July revealed "mass" was shrinking; continue to "watch" by CT scan in Jan.  In Dec she had to have hysterectomy unrelated to this "mass".  While doing hysterectomy, "mass" was found and biopsied again with benign results again; continue to "watch".  She had CT scan in Jan which revealed "mass" had grown; now decided to remove it.  Tues she had surgery to remove "mass" which was found to be cancer but not the primary source of cancer; surgeon explored and found the primary source, a grape sized tumor in the small intestine.  Small tumor, 2 feet of small intestine, "mass", and several lymph nodes removed.  She will be seeing an oncology MD.  The cancer is a carcinoid, a slow growing cancer, and is rare occurrence.  Treatment of choice is surgery.  She may have recurrence which would be removed or she may never have again; with recurrence she may still live to 90.  So we have reason to be optimistic for her future.  This was such a shock for her and the rest of us as she is a breast cancer survivor (unrelated to this) and we lost a son to cancer.  By the grace of God we will get through this.  So, please pray for her quick recovery and bright future.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  In God we trust.

June, I haven't written before now because sometimes I am just at a loss for words.  (hard to believe, I know.) :)  You've been on my heart and I'd love to say  just the right thing to encourage you, but I'm afraid anything I'd say would be woefully lacking.   I don't want to sound cliche or patronizing.  So I hope you will hear the heart behind my words and feel the Lord's arms wrapped securely around you - holding you, sustaining you, and enfolding you with His mighty love.  Your strength and faith is evident despite this time of fear and concern.  Lifting you up before the Father's throne.  May He grant you all His peace as you walk this road.
