Quilt With Us

Now that I have Judy's quilt quilted I can jump into another "neverending" project - can't I? Just nod your heads in agreement. I fell in love with Sylvia's Bridal Sampler from Elm Creek Quilts and have talked a few of my co-workers (Mari, Judy, MaryJo, and a definite "maybe" from Karen) into doing it with me. Wouldn't you just love to join us as we try to make 140 DIFFERENT blocks? Again, just nod your heads in agreement. It really will be fun! I promise! I will be making my blocks from our new collection, Hearth & Home but feel free to use up all those little pieces from your stash. You will need the book though for the block patterns.

I know 140 blocks is a lot to do (each block is only 6") so I would like some input on what our goals should be. Do we want our group to run for a year or 6 months? Do you think you will lose interest if it goes on too long? Would you be up for doing several blocks a week or do you want to go at your own speed? And, what punishment should we have for those who don't keep up? (JUST KIDDING -except for Mari & Judy - they HAVE to keep up or there WILL be consequences!) Let me know.

Well, Darl, I did purchase the book and, I do have the fabric already. I made one block just to try it out and the blocks are small enough that it doesn't take long to get one made. You can very easily get 3 blocks made in an evening. I think that with the support we'll get with our newly forming group it will be exciting and doable in a year. Yep, that's my choice ~ a year project!!!! Now, I think we also need links, tags and a viewing photo window like in Karen's UFO group so we can see all the blocks everyone is making and can link up with any super tools/books/etc that will make construction easier. Well, that's my 2 cents worth and I'm stick'n to it!!!! PPM

I had been looking at buying this book for a few weeks, and finally ordered it the other day. Doing it as a group will keep me motivated(I can be lazy). Let us know when it will be starting. Looking at my catalog that came in the mail yesterday, I was lovin the Hearth & Home collection(so pretty).

I vote for at least a year long project, and even then I might have to take longer!

I have the book, and had already fallen in love with this quilt. I would love to do it as a group. I agree that it would be a good idea to do this quilt over the course of a year, especially for those of us who work full time. Whatever the time that is designated to do this quilt, I will be watching for the start date, and any other info. Just give us time to get our fabric ordered! I love the Hearth and Home collection, as well, and may decide to use that for my quilt. I have also been considering doing it with some of the great stash I have.

My mother just gave me the book so I would be excited(?!) to join in...that would give me incentive to get the blocks done!

Karen, I just remembered that my name and Mari's name are on the signature blocks (see top of quilt) so I think we can lay claim to it before you! Ha!

I would love to join the group. I already have the book and have been admiring that quilt for a while. It would be fun to make this quilt as a group as it would keep us motivated. I would prefer to do it over a one-year period which is about 3 blocks a week. The blocks are small, so if you miss a week or two, you can easily catch up.

Darlene, you really outdid yourself on this one. I'm working hard on Judy to give it to me as a gift :)

Since Darlene hasn't learn how to insert links, here's the book she's talking about.

I would love to be able to have the incentive and support to get started on Sylvia's Bridal Quilt. I had bought the book several weeks ago but promised myself to get a few more projects completed before starting another new venture. Excited to join the group.
