Quilt With Us

I had the chance to go to the Madison, WI Quilt Expo yesterday!  I had missed the last few years, so this was a huge treat.  303 amazing quilts  on display - every one of them award worthy, I thought.  Winning quilts showed a lot of gorgeous glitzy threads, and embellishments, but there were also some amazing more traditional quilts that were also awarded ribbons.  Makes me feel like my work is so mediocre, but still worth the love and time that goes into them.  Wools remain popular, and many projects had s wonderful mix of wools, with cottons, silks, etc.  All the vendors were friendly, and eager to help.  Now I feel like I should go directly to a retreat while I still have all these new ideas running around in my head.

They are so much fun and you get so many ideas when your thru..They should have a retreat right after so we can get some really productive ideas going,,,,So many things to see and touch and feel..things you never thought you would see they are doing it now...so inspiring! I had fun when we went to ours right here in Raleigh, NC ~ I'm going to go again next year.

I have never been to an Quilt Expo.  The closest one to me is in Worcester Mass.  A 10 hour ride from here. I do go every year to the local quilt guild show which is small but enjoyable.  I like shopping at the vendors and socializing with everyone.

Huge quilt shows are often overwhelming.  I have attended the Minnesota show in Duluth, Mn several times and usually feel so inadequate as a quilter.  We all need a reminder that we are all talented in our own right.

Janet - I hope you do get to go.  You won't regret it.  Just wear good walking shoes!

I am hoping to make it to this event next year.  My oldest DD lives in Appleton so we could combine a trip to visit with her & then this show on the way home.  That way I could leave my husband in the hotel room while I enjoy the show!

Going to a quilt show like that really gets the creative juices running. You just wish you had all the time in the world to do everything you would like to do!
