I just came home a few hours ago from my first Quilt Retreat! I have to say, I didn't get much done as in completing a quilt. But I did have fun and met a lot of great people. Who I hope to continue to become better friends. Thank you Andi for inviting me to the retreat! I will definitely will be back next year!
In the meantime , I think I need to find another one to attend to. I want to do more of them!!!

Comment by Laura Watts on January 30, 2013 at 5:39am There were about 22 ladies there! It was held in LaGrange Park, IL. There wasn't any workshops, it was mostly sew on your own, but if you were doing something that was different or new people would come by and watch. There is talk about maybe a few showing hows. And the food was good, nothing out of this world.

Comment by Barbara Graham on January 29, 2013 at 3:28pm I retreat twice a year. My best friend organizes it. She reserves the meeting rooms at our Holiday Inn, we get off season, group rates on the rooms, meals, and we all do our own thing. No class. We each have plenty of UFO's. The first time she organized it was twenty something years ago. A small church retreat center opened just out of town, they agreed to have the quilters. There were maybe 8 of us. We went on Friday after work and stayed until Sunday afternoon. Laughed. Sewed. Ate. More and more wanted to come so we moved to the Holiday Inn. Now we start on Thursday morning about 8:00AM. She lives 6 blocks from the hotel, I live whole mile--we stay there--it's too far to drive back and forth. :0
Just can't have too much fun!
I have never been to one either, but I sure wish I could find one close to home here since my DH requires a caregiver. I could run home if it was an emergency then.
I love going to retreats as well although it has been a couple of yrs since I have been to one.
Comment by Carol Ann Hinton on January 28, 2013 at 7:37am Retreats are a little addicting, aren't they? I go to two or three a year, and choose carefully for the fun ones. Success is a blend of location, amenities, and other attendees. Glad you had fun at yours.
Comment by Laura Watts on January 28, 2013 at 7:22am You have to try it. It was my first one and it was definitely a blast. I know not all are like that, but this one was so much fun.
Comment by Pam/NY on January 28, 2013 at 6:52am Sounds like you had a great time!!! Never have attended a retreat, on the list!
